The https://covid19.healthdata.org/ site shows Calif going UP again in a few weeks. The same site the Saddleback President Sterne showed data for the US going down in the next weeks in an effort to support his position of going back to school in the fall. The guy didn't show the Calif info at all. No info on the OC though.
Sorry, 6:52 AM, but I didn't quite get the point about Stern's not showing the CA info nor the OC info. He did this because he only wants in-person classes for fall. Is that correct?
I think he was trying to show we were getting better by the end of the semester. The USA data shows that. The Calif data does not. If he convinces the employees at SC we are getting better and we can re-open he looks good it think. I don't know why he is so adamant about it though.
Thanks 8:13 for the clarification.
On another point, a former Saddleback faculty member just told me that Tom Carroll in the SC Philosophy Dept passed away. Roy have you heard anything?
Dear Colleagues,
We are very saddened to share that Dr. Thomas Carroll, a longtime Philosophy Professor who started at Saddleback College in 1977, passed away on Monday of coronary disease.
Dr. Kevin O’Connor, Dean of the Liberal Arts Division, shared of Dr. Carroll, “Tom was the embodiment of the ideal classroom instructor. He was a brilliant critical thinker and extremely thoughtful. His love for his profession was evident, and how wonderful it is to think that he did what he loved until the very end.”
Dr. Carroll earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from UCLA, and a Master’s and Ph.D. from UC Santa Barbara. He is survived by his son, Tom Jr.
Our Saddleback College family sends our condolences to Dr. Carroll’s beloved family, friends, and colleagues.
Dr. Elliot Stern
president, Saddleback College
Are you ok, Roy?
Please show the valid data that proves CA will somehow look different than the rest of the nation this fall re: Covid cases.
So the plan to reopen in the fall at Saddleback does not include cleaning rooms between classes.
Not what the CDC and CalOSHA says should happen.
Yes, Bob, I'm just fine. My laptop ceased to work Friday morning, and, thanks to IVC IT, I now have a temporary replacement (which works fine), but the issues with switching computers plus demands of teaching removed me from blogging for a while. Plus, now, I no longer have Photoshop to manipulate graphics.
Hope you and B are doing well.
