The Annual Transfer Celebration—held this afternoon in the Performing Arts Center. (CLICK on pics to enlarge.)

Celebrating the service of two retiring and beloved faculty. (Drat, only one of 'em is in this picture.)

This sculpture is part of IVC's "Bi-Annual Outdoor Sculpture Invitational" (BOSI).
Jason Butler's "Up, up, up to where even George W. Bush has got Soul...."

Beth and Melanie, celebrating....

"Elements in Motion," John Seeman.

Participating artists

Students examining Matthew Furmanski's "Crossroads Oracle."

The title of Mr. Butler's piece is an allusion to Neil Young's obscure song about Richard Nixon (who, one night at a hospital, cried as he waited to hear news about his wife's condition).

Part 2 later tonight.

Journey to the Center of an Essay Mill: a modern day horror story!

The Chronicle of Higher Education sends an investigative reporter to the inside of one of those online essay mills - you know, one of those places where desperate students pay anywhere from five bucks and up per page for others to write their book reports, term papers, literary analysis essays, etc. Rates vary according to the urgency (time allotted to compose), subject matter, number of sources used, sophistication of paper, etc. The company employs freelancers from around the world.

Tip of the mortarboard to the irreverent Rate Your Students for this one.

The Kayak Club took advantage of the flood of 1938.

The Kayak Club again, the 1930s.

Student Body officers of 1918-19

Cheerleaders, 1946

Some crazy stunt, the 1950s.
