Elvis—and Ed Meese's speechwriter—will be in the building

“The president has been right on target when it comes to taxes and their effect on the economy. Because of his persistence, federal income taxes have been lowered, the marriage penalty has been reduced, the death tax is being phased out, and taxes on capital gains and stock dividends have been cut. The economy has responded with higher growth and increased productivity.”

.....—So said Lance T. Izumi, a senior fellow at the Pacific Research Institute for Public Policy in a 2004 article for National Review Online (Flawed Fiscal Philosophy: Bush should listen to Friedman and Hayek).
.....So what? So Lance will be one of Raghu’s guest speakers for the Chancellor’s opening session on Wednesday—here at the new Performing Arse Center at Irvine Valley College.
.....As you know, the district’s own Tracy Daly has spammed us this morning, urging us to “make plans to attend the Chancellor’s Opening Session this Wednesday….”
.....Tracy slyly hints that ELVIS WILL BE IN THE BUILDING: “rumors abound that a celebrity may be providing the entertainment.”
.....The “Elvis” theory is supported (well, not really) by the other guest speaker: Dr. Wallace Walrod of the Orange County Business Council. Grizzled SOCCCD veterans will recall that, the last time Walrod graced us with his presence, a year ago, a fake Elvis/Neil Diamond provided the entertainment. Raghu had found the fellow whilst bar-hopping.
.....One more factoid about this Lance Izumi fella: back in the 80s, he was a speechwriter for U.S. Attorney General Edwin Meese.
.....Wow.

QUESTION: should I bring my camcorder to Wednesday's event? Not sure.
