Cool old stuff: Tustin in the 1870s; Tom Fuentes in 1966

The Hewes home in Tustin

THOUSANDS OF GEESE. A little bit of local history for you today: this is an excerpt (from pages 5-6) of "Orange County Before it was a County" (1989) by Stephen Gould:

The "spade" photo first appeared in the Tustin News on May 30, 1968, six days after the event depicted.
The city of Tustin was the original instigator of what became Saddleback College and the Saddleback Community College District. See Wacky Origins.

Kirker was involved in local (Garden Grove/Santa Ana) politics and presided over an organization of ex-WWII POWs. He was very much a paranoic cold warrior. I do believe he was involved in acting and directing later in life (or at least someone who shared his name was).
