"A-Hole" at the Radisson

A couple of hours ago, Allan Bartlett over on Red County Blog blogged effusively from the Newport Beach Radisson where, as you surely know by now, the Western Conservative Action Carnival is going on with the help of our boys Tom Fuentes, Don Wagner, and Beelzebub (SOCCCD trustees).

Says Al,
Former KFI talk show host John Ziegler was conducting an interview with American Conservative Union President David Keene. At some point in the interview, Mr Keene didn't like Zig's line of questions and ended the interview.
Apparently, really real conservatives have their doubts about Keene, owing to his association with Arlen Specter (Heaven forfend!) and his recent unkind words about Sarah Palin’s intellectual attainments. Gosh!

Eventually, Ziegler—who, you’ll recall, is one of the biggest assholes on the planet—made a spectacle of himself following Keene around with his equipment. So “the Zig” was escorted off the hotel property, despite having a gig there (on a panel—probably about being an asshole) later in the day. He didn’t show!

According to Bartlett, earlier, some guy named Floyd Brown called for the President’s impeachment, whereupon another denizen of the Radisson, Ed Morrisey, scribbled on his blog, blasting Brown for so inappropriate a suggestion. Then (says Bartlett), some third asshole sitting next to Morrisey called Morrisey rude for blasting Brown!

Wow, these Repubs sound like drunken Dems at a convention! Let’s hope Bartlett keeps spillin’ those beans. Anything could happen!

UPDATE (Sunday, Oct. 18):

I found an update of sorts today by someone named Tommy Christopher on a right-wing site called Mediaite:

Western CPAC – John Ziegler Ejected After Dust-up with ACU Chair:
…Keene gets up and tries to end the interview. Ziegler follows Keene, continuing to question him about the FedEx incident and his support for Arlen Specter. Keene becomes agitated and tries to grab Ziegler’s mic away from him.

Ziegler sticks with him for a good 5 minutes more after that, even as Keene calls him a “scumbag,” tells him “I’m not going to hit you, but I’d like to,” then says, “You’re an asshole. Got that on the air? Asshole!”

Keene then ducks into a speaking event, leaving Ziegler to heckle him from just outside the room by offering him $20 to write a pro-Palin op-ed.

Ziegler’s speaking spot is then canceled, and he is told he’s being expelled from the conference. When I spoke to John last night, he told me that he could hear conference organizer Jim Lacy’s comments as he ate lunch, and couldn’t take it. In the video, Lacy is explaining Ziegler’s exit to the crowd, when John comes onstage to correct the record. Amazingly, he somehow manages to get ahold of a live microphone, and proceeds to tell the entire conference that David Keene is a “sellout” before being escorted from the stage by security.

Pious turds in a punchbowl

Recently, we reported that Don Wagner, Tom Fuentes and some of their well-known right-wing pals are gathering this weekend (yesterday and today) for the “Western Conservative Political Action Conference” at the Radisson in Newport Beach.

As Spencer Kornhaber noted yesterday (What Are Birthers Doing Hanging With Top Repubs In Newport?), this particular coven includes, among others, the Birthers!
Most notably there's Gary Kreep of the United States Justice Foundation, who's a lawyer in the same lawsuit as [Orly] Taitz filed in Santa Ana federal court…. He'll be moderating a talk [Saturday] on "The Rule of Nebulous Law." Chapman Law dean John Eastman will be participating. ¶ Floyd Brown will also be giving a talk at a private dinner. He's a GOP activist who has helmed campaigns to get the mainstream media to cover the birth certificate "issue." … Kreep … is literally one of the most important and evangelical "eligilbity activists" out there.... ¶ Jim Lacy, the longtime South County [GOP] hitman, is helming … the conference. He also was involved in the early years of Kreep's foundation and was responsible for much of the "Obama-is-a-Muslim" rumormongering during the 2008 campaign….
Why doesn’t the mainstream Christian contingent of the GOP get more riled about the craziness and stupidity and lyin’-sack’o’shittery that’s taken over their party? Nearly all of that stinky stuff seems to be spewin' from the Christian Right, people like Wagner and Fuentes, pious believers who wear their Christianity—and their brass knucks—on their sleeves.

Mainstreamers shouldn't have any problem spotting them. They’re hard to miss, like turds in a punchbowl. Listen for endless prayer. I wonder how many times they'll be invoking the Lord this weekend?

If the Lord had a sense of humor (seemingly not), He'd deposit some of His best fire 'n' brimstone (any time now!) on the Radisson—and maybe "accidentally" wipe out the rest of Newport Beach to boot. 'Cept for the seals and stuff. (And the Blue Beet.)

In yesterday’s OC Register:

'Fight back,' implores student who sued teacher
Chad Farnan, 17, urges youth to stand up for Christian and conservative rights.

Mission Viejo high school senior Chad Farnan, who successfully sued his former history teacher two years ago for disparaging Christians in class, implored Christians and conservatives to band together to fight for their rights at a GOP campaign fundraiser Friday night.

"Now is the time to fight back, so our rights as Christians and conservatives can be taken back," said Farnan, 17, a senior at Capistrano Valley High School in Mission Viejo.

Farnan, a Republican, delivered the short speech in front of an audience of about 200 people at the Irvine Marriott hotel during a campaign fundraiser for Shawn Black, a Republican candidate for the 70th Assembly District in Orange County.
