Strike

As you likely know by now, the faculty union for the troubled Capistrano Unified School District has decided that its members will go on strike tomorrow. (Teachers union in O.C. to begin striking)

I’m told that the action was provoked by the district (trustees), which has refused to negotiate and has imposed a low-ball contract (Capo trustees are affiliated with the union-hating Education Alliance, on whose board SOCCCD trustee Don Wagner sits).

Across the state, districts are watching to see what happens.

I’m told that some SOCCCD faculty are considering joining the picketers tomorrow.

To picket, select any CUSD school. Picketing begins 30 minutes before the start of school (usually 8 a.m.) and lasts until 15 minutes after dismissal. Google any school for the bell schedule.
