Negatory districtular reverie (while we wait for real news)

You might have noticed that we’ve had little to report recently about the district or the colleges. No doubt things are happening, but we sure don’t know about ‘em.
So: here are some old posts for those who need to catch up with SOCCCD lore (or Saddleback or IVC lore).

Is trustee Steven Frogue a Holocaust denier? ~ Let's use some abductive reasoning, shall we? When lots of former Frogue students from numerous different years—and who are not otherwise associated—converge on the same report (of holocaust denial/racially insensitive remarks), by far the best explanation is that they are reporting accurately.

Frogue defends himself against charge that he is a Holocaust denier ~ "Am not!" he roars. Not very impressive.

The infamous "same-sex" flier ~ Pandering to South County homophobia? We're academics and unionists! Why the hell not! It’s all true: faculty (i.e., an abysmal subset thereof) are the root of all this evil.

Time for pie ~ Sherry Miller-White excludes yours truly amid pie @ Marie Calendars. She is in fact a lout and an idiot and an embarrassment.

Night of the Nazi ~ Extras from "To Kill a Mockingbird" wander into the Saddleback Library. And, no, I’m not exaggerating one little bit. Hard-core racist creeps show up, and Frogue repudiates not a one of them.

The 1998 IVC accreditation white-wash ~ Take out the negative, leave in the positive! Let's call the whole thing off! We can only speculate re which circle of hell Ray Chandos will spend eternity.

Nazis vs. JDL thugs: oh, what a night! ~ Trustee Frogue's unsavory pals v. JDL wackos. And years before reality TV!

Hangin' with bigwig Republicans while Nazis hide in bushes ~ Repubs and Dems agree on one thing: Nazis are bad.

The "board's unlikely secret allies" (the union supports anti-unionists) ~ Yes, the union "leadership" brought us Don & Nancy—and even Tom! “CTA” stands for “Complete and Total Assholes.”

Mathur censured for lying ~ That's 'cause he lied, and creeped and worse. No wonder Tom loves him so. (Note: this story never fails to inspire indecorous spewage from the Gooster. That alone proves that it’s absolutely true.)

Bauer's court victory ~ Judge Feess spanks the district hard. Cedric and the gang are shocked, shocked! I dunno what they expected. Like the judge said, What were you people thinkin’?!

Mathur goes after Jeff for "naming a greenhouse" ~ Displays of ruthlessness and power thrill both trustees and their tiny puppet. Proof that certain trustees--who seem human enough--are distinctly deficient in the soul department.

The old guard's not-so-sweet charity ~ Between Tom and these guys, local sorditude competes with Falling Rome. And I won't even mention Tom's famous suitcase.

The "Howard Hilton" ~ One of Raghu's "stars" pursues a Hilton w/ pool at IVC. Don nearly loses a limb. (Don is so glad nobody thought to take Polaroids!)

Roy Bauer's 1st Amendment battles ~ Around these people, no decent person could resist the urge to go postal! (Oops. Didn’t mean to threaten violence!)

Students sue district over 1st Amendment violations ~ These people won't abide complaint, not even from students. Inglorious, unAmerican bastards!

"How rude are you!": the senates sue the district ~ In which, once again, Raghu and the Board bully the faculty. This time they get slapped back. A big victory (ultimately) in response to ugly, stupid ruthlessness—an infamy upon which our board’s lasting notoriety shall rest. Seriously.

IVC Faculty prohibited from discussing the war ~ A college run by maroons. And think: the fundamental question was never resolved! What say you, Glenn R? Do we get to discuss the war?

"Liberal Busybodies": Wagner takes aim at the American Library Association ~ Because you've gotta toss red meat to the knuckle-draggers once in a while, or they wander off, unled.

Southwestern: Chopra chopped

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy
Southwestern College's Controversial President Quits (Inside Higher Ed)

San Diego's Southwestern College announced Tuesday that its embattled superintendent/president, Raj K. Chopra, would leave the community college with two years remaining on his contract. Faculty groups have been angry at Chopra's administration over issues such as the 2009 suspension of several faculty members in conjunction with their roles in protests over budget cuts, and last month's elections transformed the college's board, undermining Chopra's support there, according to local news reports.
