Bullet Dodged

Wednesday, May 24, 2017 12:55 PM

This announcement arrived in all our email boxes this afternoon and word has it the SOCCCD (which has suffered enough) has dodged a bullet.

• Sent districtwide to all employees

• Chancellor’s Search Update
• The SOCCCD Board of Trustees met on Tuesday, May 23 in a closed session meeting to discuss items related to its search for and selection of the District’s next Chancellor. The board recently interviewed several candidates that were forwarded from the initial search committee.
• After a thorough review, the board concluded not to pursue further consideration of these candidates. The current search will be closed and the board will consider an extension of the current Interim Chancellor at its June 26 board meeting.
• SOCCCD Board President Tim Jemal stated, “The board of trustees appreciates the work of the initial search committee. This is a critically important position with an immense amount of responsibility. We will restart the search with the expectation of finding the best possible Chancellor for our District. It’s a priority for the Board to have an Interim Chancellor in place who can continue to make important and positive changes until a permanent Chancellor is selected.”
