That's not so dirty. My classroom floor is dirtier than that - and has been from the beginning of the year.

put the night crew back on the night shift.. 1100pm to 730am they can't clean with students in the seats.

put the night crew back at the time they where hired. 1100pm to 730am when students aren't in the seats..

How about put everybody back to the hours they were hired at, wow what a concept.. And remember why were there for our students.

It is becoming increasingly obvious that it is JE's turn to leave.

A-100 is always nice and clean.

Hey Woodard think before you speak...now wouldn't that be a concept. I would say fight your fight and stay out of everyone else's business.

Anonymous said...

9:33 you are a person who speaks without thinking. You don't attack everyone because of one building or person. You sound like John Edwards.

Anonymous said...

You sound like a student getting involved in issues that don't pertain to u. Stay in school and focus on graduating.

750 your right it is time for John to leave. From what I here John isn't this nice guy. He retaliates when someone out smarts him. He feels he is always right and no one beneath him can be smarter. You keep listening and maybe soon some secrets may come out.

Hey Wood I heard there was a reason you were sent to ATEP and by looking at your statement at 942 I can see why.

You all need to remeber a few things. 1. The custodians are short 4.5 custodians. Every time a building goes up from what I here a custodian isn't hired for the building. If they are it takes time. 2. Remember when Obama care kicked in subs no longer worked 8 hours so 4.5 custodians short, new buildings and subs being short hours spells disaster.

752 Our business is the students and if we can't keep the college clean then expect ours jobs to be contracted out. That means NO mainteance at all.

Most of the faculty and staff understand the the problem facing F&M - short staffed, changing schedules, poor management.

Could we raise the level of discussion, please?

Their u go again Woodard signs of a selfish man. You may not have a life but I'm sure they do. You just take care of your 10 x10 assignment and stop adding to the fire.

Anonymous said...

9:06 that recipe is a disaster that will never fix itself until man power is improved. You can't get anymore from them workers by stretching them thinner. I see up top.there short 4.5 workers that's more than 32 hours a day..

As a relative newcomer (a few years rather than a few decades of employment) I had heard about the infamous blog and wondered why it needed to be. But I now realize that without adequate communication (beyond press releases and blizzards of one-way emails) and real forums for discuss issues, employees have little opportunity to air their views. It must be the same for students who don't even have a newspaper. This current issue is a care in point. Yes, the discussion is messy (as are our classrooms and the campus) but clearly some kind of forum is needed to address the real issues. I have noticed that as the campus grows, few staff are hired to deal with increasing responsibilities, whether it is in F & M or on the teaching side of things. We are meant to maintain the same standards without adequate support.

Since I've been working here, they have always built new buildings with minimal staffing in all areas faculty /classified you name it. We all have our hands tied. So yes we all have to work a little harder that's for sure.

Anonymous said...

It's gotten to a point where it is much more than "working a little harder." This is directly related to poor management and even poor foresight. This is also related to irresponsible use of resources. Where is the leadership?

I'm not sure what you mean by selfish but here's the deal, when custodians went to 4pm to 1am shift, it was because Wayne Ward said it was more family friendly. That's far from the truth because now you have less time with your family than you did before. At least before you could take your kids to baseball practice/ dance recital do homework and have dinner with them and see them off in the morning to school but now nope. I'm not here to see anybody get screwed but we do need to keep the college clean for our students, that's why we were hired.

JE was an asshole when he headed up Admissions. At least in his new post, he is more isolated.

Onse again you speak before you think Woodard. Until you are in their shoes you need to stay out. Woodard stay in your own court you have your own fight with Edwards. Do not put your 2 cents in other people business stay focus on yourself.

Unknown said...

We have remedial jobs, if we wanted more we should've got a better education. So we only have ourselves to blame for that. That being said let's try to do our best at the jobs we were hired for, otherwise they will contract out our jobs eventually.

I think another issue is pay. F&M employees need to be paid much more then there will me better morale & more service. They need to be brought up to a livable wage. As for being 4.5 employees short, is it not the union's purpose to keep after the district in keeping work units adiquately staffed? How difficult could the hiring process be to hire more F&M staff? Why have they been dragging their feet for so long? Seems to me the union's priority has been to get more secretaries hired, and in getting existing ones promoted to senior admins. Now they're all senior admins.

757 without students we don't have jobs u dope. Get a clue our students can always go to a different school that's maintained better.

Anonymous said...

How much is the average hourly wage for F & M staff?

Anonymous said...

Thank you 1:55 for your support of a pay increase. The issue of morale is not a money issue it's a boss who doesn't know how to manage but knows how to attack his workers. Edwards doesn't know how to process the fact that even though we are a team we are still individuals. John seems to take out his frustration on everyone when he feels he wants to.

First of all, I'm sorry Stephen Woodard that Suzanne dobbs took that job you really wanted ( I guess she was more qualified than you ) if your still bitter let it go; by the way nice speech today.

Stephen that's why your at Atep. you just don't no when to stop talking. You have 100 Sq ft of work and you still complain, when do you stop?

Unknown said...

Well you should check your facts before you speak out like that I actually maintain 70 acres.so let's do the math 70 acres x43,560 ft.² equals 3,049,200 ft.² a little bit more than the 10 ft.² you think I have to maintain. But thanks for the love.

Oh you mean the vacations, wow I'm sorry you don't get to do that. You should try it it's fun.

Come on Woodard stop exaggerating man anybody who's been at ATEP knows u need more work to justify your 8 hours there.

Unknown said...

Yeah

957 once again you should probably get your facts straight. I told Suzanne about the availability of that job at the college. So she applied. In the 22 years I've worked here I have been asked to step in to vacant positions that where above my pay grade. Maintenance was one of them I also was lead groundskeeper and the irrigation specialist. Apparently they thought I was able to do the job, otherwise they wouldn't have asked me to do it. As far as wanting the maintenance position, that position has way too many hour changes.. Well this is been REALLY FUN but I think I'm going sign out now, good luck to you all. By the way how many times have you been asked to step into a higher paying vacant position?

Anonymous said...

Let me get this straight Stephen, you get Suzanne a job here at the College and then she stabs in the back, that hurts......

If this kind of discourse continues, I will shut off all comments on this topic. If you have a problem with that, come and see me. I don't have time to sit here and remove this kind of stuff. I am tired of it.

Yesterday I had a student happily report that the floor in her econ class was clean! Of course, ours was not.
