Trustees who miss meetings are paid anyway; Rainn Wilson's local "Soul Pancake" gig

Trustee Tom "fiscal conservative" Fuentes to be paid for a meeting he missed
As per usual, a trustee who missed a meeting of the board will be paid anyway. Evidently, it was determined that Mr. Fuentes missed the meeting in question owing to a "hardship." I do believe that the meeting he missed concerned the settlement of the prayer lawsuit ("Westphal v. Wagner"). I suspect that the hardship was that he was too pissed off to attend. But I dunno. (Agenda available HERE.)
Deeper in the document, we find these criteria:

Sounds good, I guess. But I bet Fuentes will carp about 6 and maybe even 4. Noncompetition! How unAmerican!
I suppose some will be pleased about this item:

Item 7.1 is an information (i.e., non-action) item about coming guest speakers at Saddleback College, including "Rainn Wilson." Do you suppose it's the Rainn Wilson of "The Office"? Guess so.

Evidently, Mr. Wilson created the Soul Pancake website

Paying a trustee who does not show up to work equals a gift of public funds - someone ask Shirley Grindle! Would they pay any employee of the district who didn't show up for work (other than sick or vacation pay)? Of course not.
