They're now into the "communication" thing, it seems

We’ve been receiving some curious emails here at the college.
At 11:12, Glenn sent this vapid missive:
Colleagues:

If you need assistance or have a question related to the Office of Student Life or ASIVC, please contact the Office of the Vice President of Student Services at 949-451-5458.
     Thank you for your cooperation.

     Very Respectfully,
Glenn R. Roquemore, Ph.D.
Then at 12:12, they sent this:
Once were academics
Colleagues:

We wanted to make you aware that on Tuesday, December 17, 2013, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., 40 deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department SWAT will be utilizing the Irvine Valley College (IVC) Performing Arts Center (PAC) Lobby, Theater, and an upstairs corridor for a training exercise. The nature of this training is for the SWAT team to move quietly without detection, while clearing and securing the designated areas. There will not be any loud or disruptive noises associated with this training, and it will have no impact on the scheduled classes/business of the day in the PAC. However, we did want to inform you that SWAT vehicles carrying equipment that will be used for the training will be parked in Lot 5 in front of the PAC. These vehicles are not going to be used in the training scenarios. Last year, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department SWAT was part of a 7-hour, multi-agency search of Cal State Fullerton’s campus.
If you have any questions, please contact:

Will Glen | Chief of Police
One wonders what will be arriving at 1:12.

Why would they schedule an all-day SWAT exercise smack in the middle of finals? Students are stressed enough as it is without having to worry about a SWAT team on campus. Especially after today's shooting in Colorado.

it's not about the students, it's about another photo op, duh!

SWAT team on campus during finals? Geez. Why not when classes are over or on the weekend? Who planned this?

RE: someone's comments earlier about the role the blogs plays. the only reasons we are getting more information about stuff this semester is because of the blog and its attention to that ridiculous (and unannounced) event held early on that impacted students and staff. You may not like the blog but it does what needs doing.

You don't know who the Bolsheviks were, do you?

Glenn is saying don't ask me. I don't want to talk about something I signed off on. I expect more from my leader. Standing up and telling EVERYBODY what the don't want to hear and/or may take exception to is a part of the job. Nothing has to change, after all, he is the President. With the Board on the same page, life is good.

Glenn is just like Obama. He thinks he’s way smarter than all of us, surrounds himself with only “yes” people and shoots messengers. Helen was a messenger.
