Board closed session actions

Be sure to read Tere’s Board Meeting Highlights.
Two CLOSED SESSION items caught my eye:

• On a 7-0 vote, the board approved a resolution terminating the employment of an academic administrator at Saddleback College and directed administration to send the appropriate notice to the employee.

• The board approved all remaining administrators listed on the agenda a renewal of a three-year contract with the exception of the Saddleback College administrator listed in the above action.

--Uh-oh. Here's the list of administrators that appeared on the agenda:

According to Tere's notes, the terminated administrator is at SC, not IVC. It's great to fantasize about Glenn's dismissal, I suppose, but it's just a fantasy. It appears that the board--as clueless as ever--has given Glenn another 3-year contract.

are you sure that it is a three year contract extension and not just an evaluation of performance?

The only thing I'm sure of is that the two bullet points are taken verbatim from Tere's "Board Meeting Highlights," which are generally very accurate.

You've missed an important opportunity! Why was nobody there in public comments urging the board not to renew Glenn's contract? Had it been organized in advance, many could have turned out to ouster the little guy.

We gave a heads up about this action several days before the meeting. It was no secret.
After making the case for Roquemore's incompetence (etc.) on these pages repeatedly and pointedly, one naturally wonders why making the point again at a board meeting would make any difference. That, at any rate, is why I would not address the board. They know what I think and seem to reject my perspective. Don't know why. --RB

No excuses, Roy. You all should have amassed an anti Raghu-styled demonstration! Large numbers, unity, no confidence, etc... Should have pulled out all the stops! Unless, of course, you really accept Glenn deap inside...

"Deap" inside?

I don't think that this was contract item. Or at least it wasn't for everyone on the list. Some of these people were just hired in 2012. It doesn't make sense for them to be getting renewed right now?

Buttercup: We'll never survive.
Westley: Nonsense. You're only saying that because no one ever has.
