For community colleges in the Golden State, things have gone from worse to worst.
The state’s 110 two-year institutions will lose about $825 million in funding over the next 13 months, said Scott Lay, president of the Community College League of California. He added that, of this large cut, $200 million will be trimmed in the next 45 days. This drastic funding cut comes thanks to the defeat of a series of budget proposals, on the ballot of Tuesday’s special election, which would have minimized cuts to public higher education and other state agencies.
“The last time community colleges saw funding like this was in 1982, before the Internet, the Americans With Disabilities Act and other costly measures,” Lay said…..

California will survive but the tax and spend liberal legislature may die a slow death and the unions may finally suffer a little like the rest of us and that is a good thing.
I did not infer it's the taxpayers' fault. I thought I stated it fairly directly that it is their fault.
As we live in a society of entitlement, the average citizens apparently believes they can have everything they want, but sure don;t want to pay for it.
This is an expensive state to run; we sure want roads and bridges, a clean water supply, sewage treatment, police, educational system from K to universities, meat inspection, courts, etc., but fuck it if the average taxpayer wants to pay for any of it.
And please don't parrot the typical lie that we'e the most heavily taxed state in the ocuntry (we're not by a long shot) or that we're picking on the rich, who will leave (no they won't) --and why you characters are such protectors of the uber rich is beyond me. They don't give a shit about you, I assure you.
So here we are, held hostage by a 2/3 vote necessary to pass a budget, in which a few ideological dimwits get to turn the state into a dysfunctional mess. Were you a fan of the car tax cut? If so, you're part of the problem.
So I say let's cut the police force in half; let's do away with state parks and recreational support; let's let the roads deteriorate into pothole hell. You'll still be bleating that we need to cut the waste--well, pal, there it is.
