…[T]he American Association of University Professors weighed in with an initial take on the crisis. In a news release the faculty group cited criticisms about the commission that professors at City College and faculty union leaders in California have voiced, including that the accreditor has been "excessive and unfair" in its treatment of CCSF and other community colleges. The association promised to investigate those concerns and urged the commission to reconsider its decision to yank City College's accreditation.

Appeal or Bust (Inside Higher Ed)
There are no clear answers to the question of where City College of San Francisco’s 85,000 students will go if the college shuts down next year. That unprecedented and nightmarish scenario became a real possibility last week when the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges voted to strip the college of its accreditation in June 2014….
Stunned by Accreditor, City College of San Francisco Suddenly Faces Hard Choices (Chronicle of Higher Education)
…The federally recognized accrediting agency's decision was unexpected and "outrageous," said Alisa Messer, president of the American Federation of Teachers Local 2121, which represents City College faculty members. On YouTube: "Making History: Saddleback College"
Recently (see Ripping Yarns and More Ripping Yarns), we posted excerpts from the book, produced by Saddleback College faculty in 2001, called "Making History: Saddleback College." Evidently, a movie corresponding to the book was posted on YouTube on July 1. (That's it above.)
It's been viewed 11 times!

I see that the college now has a Saddleback College History website. It is somewhat incomplete.
As you know, Ana María Cobos and others have been working on an update to the aforementioned book. The products of that effort will be made available in August (during Flex Week).
Teddy update
Things have gone well with Teddy the cat. He's still pretty skittish when I'm standing or walking. When I sit upon the ground and invite him to me, he comes, plays, like a kitten.
But he's also more comfortable around the house. He seems to play by himself in the night, knocking things over, goofing around. (It turns out, he's closer to 12 pounds. I checked his health records.)
Kathie visited yesterday, and that went well. Annie just visited, and she and Teddy seem to have become fast friends. I do think he prefers women to men.
My folks have Bugsy; my sister has TigerAnn. Now I've got Teddy Boy.
It amazes me how utterly different these three creatures are. And each one is lovable.
