Shea loses! Agran and crew might be in

The only surprise here: how well Ryan Dack did against the incumbent, Wright

Porter prevailed as expected. But 46% wanted the odious Raths? Geez.

The Republicans imploded in Irvine.

"The only surprise here: how well Ryan Dack did against the incumbent, Wright"

Probably had done better if he didn't play dirty politics.

Dack did do well.

I find it interesting that Tim Jemal won with just over half the vote. He had two challengers, but he didn’t end up with a huge share of the vote as you’d expect for an incumbent in a race most don’t follow closely.

AP called Mike Levin the winner in his race.

McDonald is behind by 4 votes.

Dack did well. I don't get 4:08's charge about "dirty" politics - who didn't abide by the law? Dack or Wright? How is pointing out a violation "dirty"? Don't you want your elected officials to abide by the law? And to be honest, who knew about Dack's charges? Very few people. Really. As for me, it made me respect him more. Unfortunately I had already voted for Wright, otherwise I would've changed my vote.

4:08 is likely the person who left a comment Oct 31: "Ryan Dack, you're a dirty politician. When you run for office, focus on what you will do for the district not on your opponent. Then you will get my vote."
But Dack has made clear what he "will do" for the district on his website and elsewhere. By digging up Wright's campaign finance violation, he showed that he had something on the ball. His ideas seemed good, and he's not a tired old fool who is set in his ways (Wright).
I voted for him. I do hope he runs again.

Calling your trustee "old fool"? Explain please. Heard of your faculty association's election violation? Guess not.. ask the Saddleback folks. Not surprising.. the pot calling the kettle black

5:25, I've been observing this board for years (at board meetings). They seem to live in a bubble, one created by the crew of administrators that surrounds them. We have complained bitterly about bad administrators for years, and they have repeatedly renewed their contrasts. IVC's bumbling Glenn Roquemore was allowed to preside for 17 years!
I've long observed Trustee Wright as well. He leaves quite an impression of being very set in his ways. I've seen him repeatedly speak about the district as though it were Saddleback College and vice versa. I've complained (here on these pages). He appears to be incorrigible.
We really need to "refresh" this unresponsive board. Wright is not the problem. He's part of the problem. We need a better board than the self-satisfied and clueless crew we now have.

Even when the board is “supportive” they don’t appear to be sincere. They pander. Marcia is an example of this. You can be supportive without needing to be in the spotlight.

They make it all about themselves, always.

Thanks for your response Roy but do you think this blog is the best way to communicate your frustrations? Most of the posts here are anonymous (yes, that includes me because I don't have a google account).

Why are you only naming Glenn Roquemore? Is it because he's a Republican? Who are the other administrators (current) that you are referring to? Can you name them and explain why their contract should not be renewed?

Most of the problematic administrators have left—e.g., Roquemore, Linda Fontanilla.
As I have explained, I do like the two new college presidents and the new Chance.
But the incompetent Liz Cipres at IVC should have been canned many years ago.
I have no idea what Cipes & Fontanillla's party affiliation is.

Who is your dean? Are you happy with your dean?

Anonymous said...

I might have met your dean Liz Cipres. With short straight hair. Very unfriendly indeed..

Roy Bauer said...

I have no problem with my dean. Cipres is dean of Guidance and Counseling at IVC

10:38 it is very convenient to criticize others, but when you criticize you should provide examples, not value judgment. For example, Trustee Marcia "needing to be in the spotlight" -- can you provide examples? They do need to share what they exactly do so the public won't say they are just there for the status. If people criticize (anyone in the district) without proof, it leads to a toxic workplace. Better yet, fill out the trustee survey that was sent out by the chancellor, and be objective. It is due Nov. 6!

I meant Nov 9!

5:25 I totally agree. "Trustee and Clerk of the Board Dr. James Wright, a retired colonel in the United States Air Force with more than 27 years of active duty service." Some people are lambasting Pres. Trump for allegedly disrespecting our military man.. but look closer. Calling your own trustee an "old fool" ...

Somehow incumbency bestows a kind of eternity without accountability. Few people actually vote "for" our trustees. They pick the incumbents if they get down ballot far enough or they don't even go there. The trustees though think otherwise. Nice folks for sure but could they be more responsive, more engaged? For sure.

"Few people actually vote "for" our trustees"

I knew that. Someone from Saddleback mentioned your union wanted to endorse them for "negotiation" purposes but said they wouldn't vote for them..you lost!

Okay, Marcia.

I know it's a little delayed, but I'd like to thank everyone for the kind words! I was personally hoping I'd get closer to 45%, but the best performance against an incumbent in 12 years I'd be happy to settle for. I've had a lot of folks reach out to me and ask if I'll run again. I'm not sure where I'll be in four years, but with everything I do, I have an open mind about it.

I'm so happy to see my friend Carolyn Inmon win as well, and will be watching board activities with interest.
