Civil war?

In America, talk turns to something unspoken for 150 years: Civil war
(Washington Post)
...First came former U.S. attorney Joseph diGenova, a Fox News regular and ally of President Trump. “We are in a civil war,” he said. “The suggestion that there’s ever going to be civil discourse in this country for the foreseeable future is over. . . . It’s going to be total war.”
The next day, Nicolle Wallace, a former Republican operative turned MSNBC commentator and Trump critic, played a clip of diGenova’s commentary on her show and agreed with him — although she placed the blame squarely on the president.
Trump, she said, “greenlit a war in this country around race. And if you think about the most dangerous thing he’s done, that might be it.”
With the report by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III reportedly nearly complete, impeachment talk in the air and the 2020 presidential election ramping up, fears that once existed only in fiction or the fevered dreams of conspiracy theorists have become a regular part of the political debate. These days, there’s talk of violence, mayhem and, increasingly, civil war.
A tumultuous couple of weeks in American politics seem to have raised the rhetorical flourishes to a new level and also brought a troubling question to the surface: At what point does all the alarmist talk of civil war actually increase the prospect of violence, riots or domestic terrorism?
Speaking to conservative pundit Laura Ingraham, diGenova summed up his best advice to friends: “I vote, and I buy guns. And that’s what you should do.”…. (continued)

If our system works this time, we will probably be stronger after the president is impeached and the entire Trump cartel is brought down.

You're way behind the curve. Dr. Heather MacDonald has been discussing this topic for over a year. She attributes it to revisionist history being taught, omition of facts, liberal indoctrination and a culture of social justice incompatible with our Constitution, at public Colleges and Universities.

Also and contrary to your accounting, it is those on the progressive left that have been driving the rhetoric for civil war. They are still upset with the outcome of the 2016 election and their attempts at removing our duly elected president (undemocratic) ate failing.

5:48/6:00 - Who is "behind the curve"? The article cites both conservatives and liberals as concerned about a coming "civil war." So they're both behind the curve? Is that what you're trying to say?
And what difference does it make where the curve is? The question is whether current political tensions presage some kind of outbreak of violence between Trumpites and less fevered Americans. Given the behavior of the right (the threatening behavior of various terrorist Trumpites; rightists' religious zeal for gun rights; their newly open racism; the right's stunning capacity to embrace a "leader" who is plainly foolish, indecent, and narcissistic; etc.), one naturally wonders. I've been wondering, increasingly, for years.
The left does not inspire such concerns. It inspires Will Rogers' famous remark about whether he is a member of an organized political party. Democratic Party? Nope.
Violence? Not so much.

Lee Haggerty, friend and colleague, my utmost respect for all you have done for Saddleback College, students and staff. Just remembering your laugh makes me smile. You showed your style not only as the best dressed at Saddleback but in the way you treated everyone!
So glad to have known you!

Gee, what a zinger comeback, 7:44. NOT.

7:44 should have taken Lee's courses to get a grip on our constitution and perhaps an English course or two to support his/her point and then provide some evidence of said vague, generalized comment. Two incomplete sentences or attempts at them. Sad.

3:18, how typical of you over educated, self important morons and the condescending comments you make. If someone doesn’t agree with your personal cause, the first thing you do is insult the individual and feign ignorance of the original comments meaning. Deflect, deflect, deflect. Clearly taking lessons from Trump! It only shows how intelligent you feel you are. Tell me, do risk drowning when it rains with your nose so up in the air like that? I, for one, knew exactly what 7:44 meant and do believe he/she is not that far off. Despite the uneloquent post, the opinion is valid. Enjoy your multiple useless diplomas and maybe try to take some common sense classes instead.

I hope so. Do you white lefties think blacks and browns are going to do your fighting for you? You can't all be in the internet propaganda division. Maybe your billionaire tech moguls can create an army of Terminators to do the fighting for you before the shit really hits the fan.
