Another round of cost cutting is under way at Antioch College, with faculty and staff members who earn more than $40,000 per year being required to take mandatory furloughs and a de facto hiring freeze being put in place.
Affected faculty and staff at the small college in Yellow Springs, Ohio, will need to take 10 days of unpaid leave before June 30, according to The Yellow Springs News. That’s the equivalent of an 11 percent pay cut over the next several months, or 3.8 percent of their annual salaries. No jobs are being eliminated….

Tough times are ahead. I suspect that elementary, high schools and community colleges that benefit from Basic Aid are in the sights of different state agencies.

Statewide classified senate organization names President Roquemore recipient of 2018 Leadership Award

As announced at last night’s board meeting, the California Community Colleges Classified Senate (4CS) has named President Roquemore recipient of the 2018 4CS Leadership Award. Roquemore received the news yesterday morning when he was surprised by a room full of Classified Senate members and administrators.

"I am grateful beyond words for this recognition,” said Roquemore. “I am proud to say that IVC continues to be a big family in all aspects. Our Classified Senate is a very important component of our governance philosophy. As such, wonderful insight, guidance and ideas have come from our classified employees over the years. Thank you for making my journey at IVC a joy every day."

Every year, 4CS recognizes an outstanding individual who has shown significant support for classified participation in governance at the state level. Members of the IVC senate and three past IVC Senate presidents nominated President Roquemore for this prestigious award.

IVC Classified Senate President Maria Nunez says, "At IVC, we are quite fortunate to have a president who sits and meets with us on a regular basis, finds funding for our members to participate in governance at the state level, encourages us to be involved and cheers us on when we are successful. Through the years, he has ensured that Classified Senate has a voice in the decision-making process on campus and has provided guidance and leadership for which we are deeply grateful.”

President Roquemore will receive his award at the Classified Leadership Institute in June.
