This President never CLEARLY describes much of anything. I wish he did but the evidence just keeps coming and he just keeps going.
"military" can be either an adjective or a noun. Spicer's "explanation" only made things worse, something that we have seen repeatedly when Trump's advisors have to "clean up" the President's irresponsible comments. What is surprising, however, is that none of the coverage of these remarks that I saw on TV pointed out the clear misuse of language. Reminds me of Plato's admonishment: "The misuse of language is not only distasteful in itself, but actually harmful to the soul."
The Trumpian comment in question was: "It's a military operation." Here, the word "military" is an adjective, not a noun. Presumably, Spicey was trying to say that Trump was using the word as a metaphor, the point being that he wasn't saying it is literally a military operation but that it is military-like. These people are, among other things, illiterate.
45 obviously has a lot of plans for the military--when's he going to propose bringing back the draft?
