How cool.

I love to hear what the IVC commencement speaker committee would say about this..."too political "would be the first words that comes to mind. They don't say the other ones out loud anymore.

Anonymous said...

I'd rather hear Putin.

Anonymous said...

Anyone know how to get some tickets?

Tom Paine said...

Of course you would.

Anonymous said...

As Putin is a murderous creepy thug, he's just your type, right?

Anonymous said...

Can you imagine what Tom Fuentes would say or do were he still with us?

Anonymous said...

Tom would be on the phone trying to throw his weight around and get the whole thing quashed - like they tried to do with Chemerinsky. But it's a whole new O.C. with only a faint residue of the old reactionaries...unfortunately many of them with with US. No vision at IVC or Saddelback. No understanding about how commencement could be used to showcase the school or the community. It might as well be 1955.

Obama is the worst president ever!

Roy Bauer said...

Troll, troll,
an asshole

Anonymous said...

Just because he disagrees with your political views does not make him a troll. Unfortunately, those of us who elected him have discovered that he lacks conviction and leadership skills. He has been a major disappointment.

Roy Bauer said...

What makes Mr. troll a troll (and an asshole) is his habit of offering opinions sans reasons or argument. All he offers is assertion, as though that were all that could ever be provided.

Anonymous said...

Imagine what could be accomplished without an unreasonable and hyperpartisan Republican opposition, or Fox News stoking the fires, or the Koch Brothers.

We can dream.

Ok, Roy.

"Obama is the worst president ever."

A. He is a compulsive ideologue liar:
1. Transparency, the most transparent admin. in history.
2. You can keep your health insurance and doctor, period.
3. Oath to uphold the Constitution and enforce the laws.

B. He is up to his eyeballs in scandals:
1. NSA spying.
2. IRS, ATF & EPA harassment of opponents (see Nixon)
3. Benghazi - What difference does it make?
4. GAO parties in Las Vegas on taxpayer dime.
5. HHS IT rollout, waste, fraud & abuse.
6. No one got fired.

C. He is a threat to national security.
1. Apology tour.
2. Conspires with enemies and snubs allies.
3. ACA and other acts seriously hurt economy.
4. No immigration policy.

D. Serious shortfall in leadership.
1. Speaks a good speach but fails to lead.
2. Acts opposite from what he speaks.
3. Employs coersion of machine politics.
4. Employs racial politics that divide.

Much worse than Jimmy Carter, hands down.

The above outline provides general arguments and reasons to the original assertion. There ya go, Roy!

Another one:

5. His fallatious doctrine of leading from behind.

Listen, jackass. You (or your little friend) are in the habit of leaving such comments as "Obama is the worst President ever." Here's the problem. We did not defend or promote Mr. Obama; we simply reported his upcoming commencement speech for UCI. It's been years since we've had anything to say about the President, who, as a matter of fact, has been a disappointment to us. Writing "Obama is the worst President" (and the like) on this blog is therefore simply STUPID. And, again, offering unadorned assertions is its own kind of stupidity, a remarkable kind. I take it you now think that you've gone beyond mere assertion, but, in fact, your points are almost entirely unsupported assertions once again. Evidently, you do not know what an argument is. You incorrigible right-wing dumbass, please go away and stay there.

Captain Obvious said...

"Fallatious" is not a word. Good Lord.
Do you mean "fallacious"? You don't quite know what it means, do you?

For those of you who think Obama is the worst president ever. You have a Very Short memory. GWB took us into a war of choice where thousands of young men and women either died or were wounded for life. We were losing seven hundred thousand jobs a month and Obama stopped the bleeding. Everything this President has tried to do was to help the middle class and the poor. If the GOP had at least tried to work with this President he could have accomplished so much more. The GOP has lost its self. Their controlled by the radical right and the southern racist who would rather put this country on it's knees rather then see a black man do what they couldn't do.

How about the very short memory of 8:12? Most of GWB's term we had economic prosperity because of strong presidential leadership. Then it all went south when the Dems gained a majority in Congress at the begining of 2007. The Dems succeded in pushing policies that would lead to the biggest economic collapse since the great depression. You see, they thought it was unfair that some Americans could not get a home loan, so they lowered the bar for people who had no business buying a home. Just ask B. Frank and C. Dodd.

Contrary to 8:12, Obama has been doing every within his power to take from the middle class and redistribute the wealth because it's unfair that some have failed in our capitalist system. Please see the ACA.

Contrary to 8:12, the opposition to Obama's leftist agenda has nothing to do with racism. That false assertion by the radical left is simply leftist political douchebaggery, they have yet to produce any evidence of such racism.

"Most of GWB's term we had economic prosperity because of strong presidential leadership."

This character has now crossed into tin foil hat territory.

Captain Obvious said...

Is there anyone who does not suppose that the $1 trillion we spent on our disastrous invasion of Iraq hurt the economy? Nope. That would be Mr. Bush's war. Not Mr. Obama's.

Anonymous said...

I'm really tired of stupid little asswipes who think that the financial collapse was brought about by poor people. This douchebag apparently thinks that Lehman Brothers, Goldman Sachs, and Countrywide had nothing to do with it.

People like this read and analyze nothing of intelliegence, have no sense of history, and just parrot whatever crap the right wing talking points are. Idiots like this need to just go away, and have no place on this fine blog. Let this little fellow go and support voter suppression somewhere, as is the Repulican wont.

Or maybe he can have mommy make him a sandwich, as he's completely and utterly useless in this discussion.

3:54, a majority of Dems in Congress backed-up GWB in voting for the wars, including Hillary. Oh, and because they were GWB's wars, how is it that BHO, Mr. Nobel PEACE prize winner, takes the credit for KILLING UBL?

4:33, the economic collapse was not "brought about by the poor," but by your fav corrupt Democrat political hacks who pander to them for votes and lifelong careers. Can't you READ? Please see the reference to B. Frank & Chris Dodd above. Certainly not your "poor people."

Me thinks you've been having too many golden showers. Why don't you get your mommy to help you bake a batch of cookies in the Easybake oven she got you for Christmas. You know, the Easybake oven you couldn't figure out how to operate without mommy's assistance?

Oh, I'm sorry. I assumed you celebrated Christmas. You're probably one of the godless.

Obama voted AGAINST the war, you imbecile.

Anonymous said...

I'm not so sure that this person is an imbecile, as he more likely a paid troll who makes comments on blogs with the purpose of pushing the agenda of the Koch brothers and their ilk.

If you've seen any other comment publications on other places, you'll notice a certain consistency. A particular set of talking points that reiterate the same blather that starts with right wing talk radio, is taken up by Fox, and then it's lather, rinse, repeat.

There is never any actual factual support for the assertions made; it's simply attack and assert and repeat. There is nary an inconsistency or nuance. These fellows are shameless whores (and I apologize to whores for the analogy.)

Goebbels would have loved the internet, and these fellows do him proud. These people are his spawn.

The Joint Resolution authorizing the war in Iraq was passed by a wide bipartisan majority in October, 2002, and signed by President Bush on October 16, 2002. At the time, Obama was an Illinois State Senator distinguishing himself with 130 "present" votes. He was elected to the US Senate in November, 2004. Thus, he did NOT vote "AGAINST the war, you imbecile."

Leftist Progressives: Attempting to revise history for over 150 years. It was the master plan of the Fabian Socialists’ to take over the textbook industry, infiltrate colleges, universities, and K-12 education because knowledge is power. To the Fabians’ it does not matter whether that knowledge is factual. All that matters is that their knowledge dominates social discourse and fits the Fabian agenda.

It’s easy to tell when you’ve struck a nerve with leftist progressives. They always regurgitate the expected banal response they’ve been programmed to say. Uh, uh, ummm, its the Koch Bros! FOX News! Conservative talk radio! Really, Is that all you’ve got? You all sound like a broken record. I see the latest is, “you’re a paid troll!” Let me tell you something. Conservatives don’t have to pay people to troll around on blogs. Conservative thought will only continue to gain in popularity the longer the leftist progressives remain in charge. This is because even the young kids who were duped into voting Democrat are now realizing they made a big mistake.

What about those so-called greedy, capitalist billionaires on your side? George Soros? Warren Buffet? How about all those Hollywood multimillionaires who dominate and control the media 100 times over and have the advantage of influencing our nation’s culture industry? What about all that big, greedy, corporate, venture-capitalist money behind your side? Playing the Koch Bros card is so passé. Really.

The next easy tell, pattern, nuance, talking points (they like associating O’Reilly’s “talking points”) with the leftist progressives is ad hominem attacks. Right out of Saul Alinsky’s playbook, Rules for Radicals. Demean and dehumanize your opponents by calling them names. Put them down, shout them down, shut them up and thus, gain control over the debate. Sounds to me like a big liberal temper tantrum wrapped in wet, stinky diapers. However, they see it as a noble thing, the ends justifying the means, their rationale, that their pie-in-the-sky, fantasy agenda will somehow deliver the greatest good to the greatest numbers. In stark contrast, conservative thought puts more emphasis on the quality of means in reaching an end, i.e. vetting a candidate for president, I digress…

Thinking people aren’t buying your arguments or your tactics anymore.

The best thing to do with trolls is to ignore them. If you respond to them, you encourage them (I've made that mistake many times). If you simply delete their remarks, they keep coming back, alleging censorship. So let's try simply ignoring them.

Of course you are correct, but it's as if we were living in Munich in 1936. It's so discouraging.

Anonymous said...

What? Are you saying Obama is like Hitler? Or that liberals are about to get put in gas chambers? Or that conservatives are about to get put in gas chambers? Or what? Are you a left wing troll or a right wing troll? And why Munich, not Berlin or Nuremberg, in 1936? Because its an Olympics year? Just how is this like living in Munich in 1936?

Anonymous said...

Didn't you know, firing-off the name of a European city and a date certainly makes one a romantic hipster in leftist progressive circles.

Oh yeah, Vienna, 1926! I'm hip!

4:28, how would you know what it was like? You speak as if you were there. Are you like 80 years old or you just read about it?
