We wonder where the moola went

IVC President Glenn Roquemore has made a big deal about getting $50,000 from Wells Fargo.
DtB asks: where are these dollars? Where were they spent?
Nobody seems to know. (Ask the Veterans.)

Glen's email awhile back said this: "The financial support provided by Wells Fargo will be used to help fund the needs of the Center and will help ensure that veterans attending Irvine Valley College receive professional, courteous, and compassionate support in pursuit of their educational and/or vocational goals."

Are you suggesting there is an absence of accountability, transparency about the dispersal of the funds?

I saw the $50,000 check in the Foundation office this morning. A few weeks ago Richard had it displayed outside his office. Of course that was for a photo-op. I doubt the Veterans will ever see a dime. How about some information (with specific plans and amounts on how the funds will be used for the needs of the Center and the Veterans). Make believe you have to give a report to the board and explain how the $50,000 will be spent!

The poor veterans are used as props...Veteran's Gala, Veteran's Angels, Veteran's Center, etc, etc., problem is the Vet's never got any money from the Gala (this year or last year) and probably won't see any of the $50,000 from Wells Fargo.

But don't they have to explain how the money is spent? Where is the skepticism coming from?

The skepticism is coming from the lack of any information on where funds are spent. If "they" have provided information 6:18 PM that you are aware of, please share it with the rest of us who are entitled to know. Very little detail is ever shared with the campus, it's mostly promos and props...

But wouldn't this show up in the budget, line items, etc? Isn't there public accountability because we are a public institution? Besides, they just got the money. Give them time to show where it went.

Note to 6:18PM and 8:01AM - Any time you have some evidence of receipt of the money or where it is being spent, please post the information here. I eagerly await your post here. In my 10 years at IVC there has never been accountability for the foundation. Most colleges (see Saddleback) have a large outside board that oversees the foundation. Our board is made up of a few outside members and mostly Glenn's or Richards appointees from campus.

Go check out a real community college Foundation website (like OCC or College of the Desert). Pages of information and detail, a Foundation Board made up of local community leaders, annual fundraising campaigns that actually raise funds, Gala's that raise hundreds of thousands of dollars, etc. Comparing our Foundation with a real foundation is like comparing a minor league rookie with a major league all star.
