This year's IVC commencement speaker is none other than Maxwell, the popular Geico spokespig.

Further, said the instructor, none of the candidates was a woman.
"Only one woman has been chosen to speak at commencement at this college in the last twenty years," said the dissenting instructor, who asked to be referred to as "Rebel Girl."
If that fact bothered Roquemore, he certainly didn't show it. In a press release, he is quoted as saying, "we feel that Maxwell represents the values and the vision that we want people to associate with IVC. Maxwell and IVC are a good fit."

Rebel Girl is notoriously hard to please. At least people will pay attention to a pig. It's actually quite an inspired choice. I just wish it were Miss Piggy.
They could have at least chosen a female spokespig.
I think they did choose a women a couple years ago. She was from UCI.
There's been steady improvement in the commencement speaker choices, I think because the committee has been working hard to apply criteria to choose speakers that are well-suited to the job.
