IVC Academic Senate supports Saddleback Senate’s resolution re renaming Utt Library

This afternoon, the Irvine Valley College Academic Senate voted to support the Saddleback College Academic Senate’s “resolution” requesting that the James B. Utt Memorial Library be renamed.
Recently, the library has undergone considerable remodeling. Indeed, arguably, when construction is completed (by Fall), it will be a new structure.
Utt was an ultra-right-wing Congressman who failed to vote for the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts and who embraced plainly incompetent conspiracy theories. Further, he made some very unfortunate remarks, including one about “barefooted Africans” gathering in Georgia for a U.N. military exercise to take over the U.S. (see here, here, and here).
     Today's senate vote was unanimous.

We should name it after Richard McCullough.

That is an excellent idea. And how can the board refuse that?
