I've had each bit of this conversation with one student or another in recent years. Good grief.

This brings back fond memories of teaching Writing 39B. I had students who pursued me for hours at a time with this kind of argument, and, when that didn't work, went to the course director. The teacher in the video went to absurd lengths to assure that she had been equitable and objective, and could document it, consuming energy which, in a better world, could have been spent teaching and helping students instead of protecting herself from them.
