"Historical" video: the Raghu P. Mathur Saga, pt. 1

THIS VIDEO concerns an SOCCCD board meeting in the summer of 2005 in which faculty showed up in great numbers to urge the board not to renew Raghu Mathur's contract (as Chancellor).

The board, including Trustee Dave "quisling" Lang, renewed Mathur's contract. They even granted him a quarter-million dollar salary.

Garsh.

Many faculty spoke that night, but, for this clip, I've highlighted only two speakers. Check it out!

The Peter principle is hard at work at SOCCCD. Don't you know poor quality help is hideously expensive! Whenever your Board decides to give Goo his Golden Parachute you're really gonna have a cow.

Wow - what a wonder to come home to! You've really taken DISSENT to whole new level!

Great soundtrack too, Chunk!

Extremely powerful, especially the two speakers and the last shot panning over all of the faculty lined up to speak--and the soundtrack, of course! Once again, I am so sorry for the troubles in your district; you (the faculty) clearly deserve far better, to put things mildly.

I had forgotten about Jeff K's ordeals at the hands of Raghu and Co....

damn!

Way too many "fuck you's" - it will never earn a Grammy.

what about Mr.K spray painting Raghu's name all over the smashed DUI car and encouraging stdents to smash it with sledgehammers? He forgot to mention that one...

Jeff never spray painted anyone's name. Years ago, Dissent published transcripts of various depos, and it became quite clear that, at most, Jeff was the ultimate source of the spray can, though he did not say to the kid, "spray 'El Presidente,'" which, of course, is what the kid sprayed, not Mathur's name.

Get a clue.

Didn't Mathur try and get the kid expelled?

Of course he told the kid to do it like he and a small group of others told many kids to protest daily in front of "El Presidente's" office. How would the kids know to protest if nobody filled their heads with the wrong ideas? You can't deny that fact. Your accounts are all one sided. I think people need to hear both sides. What if you were an immigrant who came to the USA, worked hard and finally moved ahead in your profession only to be verbally attacked and demeaned every day? Not to welcoming for any immigrant. This is not the American dream. I thought you folks were the ones with all the compassion for immigrants?

sick sick sick

What a herd of liberal misfits who actually believe they are important. Wow! Education really does need a complet makeover.

4:18 is obviously trolling for angry responses. No one could really be that abysmally stupid.

Why is it when ever healthy debate is initiated, you always break down to name-calling instead of debating? I believe it's because you have no viable argument. Why would the questions posed by 4:18 trigger an angry response? Why are people who are supposed to be promoting education (college professors) using this board to put-down reasonable questions and critical thinking? Why are these professors resorting to calling people names because they have an opposing view?

My assessment: This board is not healthy, but rather an obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)

You beg the question,
12:43, that there was any sort of "healthy debate" generated by that peurile little commentary.

In fact, there are so many
stupid assumptions in there (as if RM is some sort of golden symbol of the "American Dream" for example), students being filled with all sorts of bad ideas, all of "you folks," etc., that it makes one's brain hurt.

OCD = Orange County Disorder

It even makes one's brain hurt more when you spell “puerile” wrong considering that you’re probably a college professor. So because someone raises some valid questions and points here their thoughts are deemed childish? It just proves again there’s no room for healthy debate in your world. Watch… you’re going to see H. Clinton lose her bid for the presidency because of this same fallacy.

Raghu IS a golden example of the "American Dream"

I can see 4:18’s point. They don’t keep that stuff (spray paint) locked-up in the stores for no reason. And 12:48, Based on what you’re saying, I think it’s pretty obvious that Mr. K incited it. He should’ve known better.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, spray paint is sooo locked up that a college-age student couldn't buy a can.

Ouch, 7:19, you caught a spelling error! (Probably because you had to go and look up the word.)

Good for you!

Now, back to the issues--avid the O'Reilly talking points (those evil liberal professors filling the poor kids' minds with evil thoughts, etc.) and what was that Clinton "fallacy" you're going on about? When in doubt, attack a Clinton--good Rush strategy.
