Chancellor’s “opening session”: mystery entertainer identified

Dissent has determined that the mystery “entertainment” for tomorrow’s “opening session” at IVC’s new Performing Arts Center is none other than Richard M. Nixon, who will be tickling the ivories as part of a day-long celebration of his 95th birthday.

See Yorba Linda to mark Richard Nixon’s 95th birthday Wednesday

Our own trustee Tom Fuentes will be on hand to help move Nixon’s hands around on the piano. As you know, Fuentes once suggested that Irvine’s “Great Park” be named the “Richard E. Nixon Park.” (See Dick Nixon's Revenge.)

ALSO,

In an editorial today, the LA Times says that it’s time to Recall Mike Carona, Irvine Valley College’s official “Hometown Hero.”

Liberals dont even know that Nixon is dead.

If you hate Nixon you hate America.

On the other hand, if you love Nixon you love lying rat bastards.

Good point, 3:22. Rat bastards of any political persuasion should be run up the yard-arm and fed to the sharks. So, bring on Slick Willie and Shrillery, those lying rat bastards. It's time they see justice!

Cute name calling, little fellow; you've been listening to Rush and Sean, haven't you?

Now, how about those folks at Halliburton--ready to make up some names about them and your favorite administration?

What's been going on in Washington for decades would make a whore blush. The only thing that's changed is the scale of the perversion.

The present Administration and both political parties and their leaders have pushed the envelope.

The folks on main street are appalled.

There will be a regression to the mean. It happens after every alcohol fueled bacchanalia.

So you're an expert on main street, are you. Get a grip! The Main Street most of us live on thanks its lucky stars there was not a surrendercrat administration in power these past eight years.

8:21 Somehow you don't believe something North of $65 Trillion in unfunded liabilities is a problem?

BTW don't confuse me with the surrendercrats. I've been saying since the 80's that there has been a need for a war involving the U.S. in the middle east. I was there for some of the opening shots with the 1985 attack on Lybia.

As long as this country has an insatiable appetite for more oil every year this Iraq thing (it'll do, thank you very much) was inevitable. That oil money was going to be diverted from butter to guns by the despots and in we would go. An attack by the Islamofacists on America was just a permutation of the problem.

We should have wrapped this Saddam stuff up with Gulf War I. Damn W's dad for calling off the dogs when we were 40 miles from Baghdad way back then!

W really messed things up when he put the Emperor of Iraq, Paul Bremer in charge. What an idiot. He wore a suit and tie with combat boots too.

Finally with General Petraeus we have a real chance at getting the murder rate in Iraq down to something like say, Los Angeles or Baltimore levels. Then we can leave.

Now that we're there we'd better goddamn win this fight or there is going to be a hell of a blowback.

8:21 I just want you to know that there doesn't have to be a desire for victory in the Global War on Terrorism and a tolerance for the fiscal policies practiced in the Beltway. There are those of us who believe the two issues are mutually exclusive. My dissent with policy IN America ends at the waters edge. Win this fight!

What the hell is a "surrendercrat"? Where did you get those silly titles?

Make yourself useful and go ahead and list the current members of the administration who served in the military. Otherwise, shut the fuck up.

torabora said...

11:29 Since when is serving in the military a requirement to be a Constitutionally elected office requirement?

It isn't and you know our military is subordinate to the executive branch.

And the use of "shut the **** up" is a real civil and convincing way to engage in debate with those you disagee with....or are you off your meds? I guess you win when you drop the "F" bomb!

Well, TB, as you want to be disingenuous, let's clue you in.

The little fellow to whom I responded is making cute little digs about Democrats being cowardly, anti-military, and appeasing types--you know, the usual Republican propoganda.

So, let's have some evidence about the big brave Republicans who are all so strong and forthright--and how they really are not using a trumped up war for self serving economic interests and war profiteering.

But if we are going to get the usual lies and inuendoes, as we get on the right wing dominated talk media, then by all means shut the fuck up.

There is no civilized debate with these types.

Les Surrendercrats

1:59, you're a goddamn hypocrite, so just try shutting me up because I'd love the opportunity to fuck you up! You liberal cocksuckers who do nothing but blame the Iraq or Afghanistan war on Bush are cowards, so go take it up with your elected surrendercrat leaders who voted for the war. And to the Demoncrats and RINOs who never miss a moment to disgrace yourselves by demoralizing the troops, I give you my best finger. May your chains rest lightly on your arms.

That response was so incoherent that it really can't be responded to.

The homophobia is amusing, though, and the fellow still can't identify a member of the republican administration who served in the military.

If you want a party that supports the military, look to the Democrats; the republicans are all too busy cutting VA benefits, and outsourcing services to the for profit sector, to notice.
