IVC's "Hometown Hero" in the spotlight!

The rumor is that Chancellor Raghu P. Mathur is insisting that Mike Carona be interviewed for the newly-opened Dean spot over at Humanities/Languages & Fine Arts.

But that's just silly. Why, Carona is corrupt!

Why would Raghu go out of his way to find a candidate for an interim position?

Why would Raghu recruit someone who is already disgraced? Someone who has already been judged incompetent?

Come on. Hasn't Raghu pledged NOT TO micromanage?

Is he that insecure that he must do something like this?

I assume that community colleges don't have a rule that academic administrators must have an advanced degree in the area over which they are presiding. Carona's master's degrees are in management.

I think that Chunk is making a joke here at Carona's expense - but one that suggest that the game's afoot, folks.

Raghu's up to something - just watch. Today's the Day of Dead - you may very well see one of the "dead" walking today at IVC. Keep your eyes open.

Yes, Raghu's is THAT desperate.

Jonathan:

At one time, it was our practice to hire only deans who had advanced degrees in the area they administered.

A few years ago, the Board Majority explicitly rejected such constraints. A dean is a dean is a dean.

In the minds of such trustees, deans wield power, not knowledge.

Why does Rahgu even CARE about who serves as an interim dean at IVC?

Serafin Zasueta?

Say it ain't so!

My god.

When I clicked on the blue word "corrupt" it took me to an old Dissent article on Serafin - are you serious, Chunk?

What do you know that we don't know?

Wait a minute, don't answer that. I don't want to know.

Wasn't Carol Lam one of the fired prosecutors targeted by Rove?

Indeed Carol Lam was targeted by Karl Rove - the same Rove who courted Carona in past times.

Yes, we are the hellmouth.

Two years ago didn't Carona take the lead in opposing the county proposition that wouldn't have increased our county's fire-fighting air fleet so we would have had MORE THAN TWO MEASLY HELICOPTERS??????

Mathur informed Roquemore that he couldn't give the dean job to Dan Rivas, the choice of the outgoing dean. Then he instructed Roquemore to hire Zasueta, who, beyond being incompetent and a jerk, was convicted of some sort of corruption a year and a half ago when he was Superintendent of some district in San Diego. (They fired his ass.)

Mathur needs to be FIRED. My God!

Hey Goo! the Cissellmonster is available. He left his College "well positioned". It would be interesting to watch the power dynamics between you two.

10:12 Of course Raghu cares who is interim dean at IVC. He has never recovered from the rejection he got when he tried to climb the corporate administrative ladder years ago, back when administrators with real degrees ran this place.

Raghu will be attempting to "get even" with IVC, in particular the School of Humanities, until he retires.

That is why our school got Mr. Psycho as dean for 4 years (or was it 10?)
