Looks like the OC Register has decided to toss a fuzzy little softball at IVC. Check out “Irvine Valley College to build business center” in this morning’s edition, which notes the recent groundbreaking ceremony and offers a healthy dollop of Gee-Whizzery:
"There's just no doubt with a structure like this … it's a wonderful addition for the campus," said Glenn Roquemore…."This particular building will be at the cutting edge of technology."Also, DON’T FORGET: this is the week in which the ACCREDS visit re Validation of the 2006 Accreditation Progress Report.
Aesthetically, the center will have a "high-tech look on a low budget," said Raul Villalba, SOCCCD director of facilities planning.
"I think it will motivate students," [student Tomo] Mizuno said.

I know buildings always motivate me!
But will they be able to maintain this building in the initimable style to which we are accustomed?
That's what I want to know.
In the past we build but we don't
hire workers to maintain. We just
add more work so don't expect to
much!
prime example, grounds crew 15 years ago. 1 lead 3 workers. today
1 lead 4 workers. when i started their was the A & B quad. now lib, ssc, baseball, soccer pe 100 pe 200
primiter road, b 400 should i go on.
"high-tech look on a low budget: good job Raul. Might as well have the three little pigs build our next building.
