"My goal is the total integration of biblical law into our lives." —HA
Howard Ahmanson, Jr.

The 800-pound gorilla of the South Orange County Community College District is trustee Tom Fuentes, who, for twenty years, chaired the notoriously conservative Orange County GOP. Just before he was ousted from that gig (by big-moneyed moderates), he snuck onto the SOCCCD board via Holocaust-denying trustee Steven Frogue's resignation in 2000.
Fuentes has powerful friends. Howard Ahmanson, Jr. is one of them.
Read about Fuentes' good pal Howard HERE—an article from SALON, 2004: "Avenging angel of the religious right."

Ahmanson, heir to the Home Savings fortune, was the original money man behind Education Alliance, a "back to basics" education organization started in the early 90s to try to diminish the power of teachers unions in California. Among its members today: some trustees of the SOCCCD board, including Don Wagner.

EA is a key supporter of the notoriously anti-faculty Capo Unified School District board.
Ahmanson is a major benefactor of the Creationist/Intelligent Design movement.
Ahmanson has been especially active opposing the interests of gays, having been a backer of California's Proposition 8.
Recently, Ahmanson and his wife were honored by Pastor Rick of the Saddleback Church, owing to the Ahmansons' funding a series of seminars for the congregation. (See This crazy web of homophobic wackitude.)
