As a follow up to my message last week, Dr. Roquemore has decided to return to the classroom in fall 2020 as a Saddleback College tenured faculty member.
I know that many changes have occurred on campus within the last several days. Although change is the one constant in our lives—slow, steady, or rapid—change is often difficult. I appreciate your patience, willingness to understand, and respectful communication throughout the processes that come with these changes. But most of all, thank you for your commitment to students and working on their behalf every day.
Dr. Roquemore has contributed much to the Irvine Valley College community and the greater Orange County community to benefit students, and for that we are very thankful.
Dr. Cindy Vyskocil will continue to serve in the role as Acting President of Irvine Valley College; thank you for welcoming her warmly.
A national search for the next President of Irvine Valley College will take place in spring 2020. Acting President Vyskocil and I will hold town hall meetings on November 4 at 9:00am and November 5 at 4:30pm in the Performing Arts Center to discuss what characteristics the Irvine Valley College community seeks in its next president.

We have to assume that GR will return to the classroom at the faculty salary step and column levels appropriate to his education and experience. But I also suspect that between now and then he might be looking for another administrative position elsewhere. His only administrative experience has been at IVC. Yet again, having been canned from IVC might not be a stain in his resume .... I believe we have sen at least one fairly recent example of an administrators dismissed under deplorable conditions who was able to secure an administrative post elsewhere.

One of the mistakes made a number of years ago was allowing administrators to have retreat rights.
Well the success rate for former IVC people at Saddleback is pretty dismal. Gensler, Tabibzadeh and now Roquemore.
Prior to AB 1725, administrator retreat rights to a tenured faculty position were granted if the administrator served two years in his/her position and had satisfactory or better evaluations during that time. After AB 1725, this changed. Now, administrator retreat rights are negotiated with the district prior to the administrator's employment. These rights are no longer de facto. In order for an administrator to retreat to the classroom, there has to be a vacancy in the administrator's field of expertise. In other words, a vacancy can no longer be created to accommodate the retreating administrator. GR was a tenured faculty member before becoming an administrator. In that sense, he falls under the old rules.
Way to cut the ties.....not. He’s too friggin’ deaf and senile to be effective educator.
