Up here at the college with the inexplicably permanent president—17 years and counting—we notice things. For instance, we notice that we almost never see President Roquemore, and when we do see him, it's some kind of photo op designed to make him look good. Somehow, every story or blurb or pic that they bomb us with seems to be an opportunity to present HIM. See him, smiling. See him presenting a prize. See him receiving a check. See him saying stupid and clueless things.
Click, click, click. Make America Great Again.

Here's a case in point. Below are the reports each president offered at the last board meeting (see agenda).
We'll start with Roquemore's IVC report. It's all about Roquemore, as per usual. Me me me.
We'll start with Roquemore's IVC report. It's all about Roquemore, as per usual. Me me me.
It's followed by Stern's Saddleback report.
Very different, wouldn't you say?
"Not me. Check out what these folks have been doing!" |
HEY SADDLEBACK!
We'd be fine with a trade.

Did everyone hear about the shooting at UNC Charlotte? This kind of event is becoming far too common. What has changed at our college regarding threat assessments and administrative responsiveness or lack thereof? When will they take our concerns more seriously?
Neither the student who shot up the synagogue in Poway nor this latest shooter were judged to be threats. I am concerned that the tools used to assess threats are ineffective and no longer fully apply to the times we are living in. Our colleges need to be more responsive and more communicative. Instead the administration here (IVC) seems to blame the people who register complaints or concerns. This is dangerous.
Thank you Captains obvious. They will do nothing but release safety tips. Here is the obvious, see something, say something. Don’t be a clueless victim. Pull your own collective heads out of your own asses and stop waiting for someone else to protect you!
Faculty and staff should be issued flack jackets, shock grenades, pepper spray: take if from Basic Aid since that does protect IVC's investment.
Stern's report focuses on the achievements of faculty, staff and students so when one reads it, one learns something about, say, who their professor of the year are and what they have done. Glenn's focuses on him. Notice the paragraph about the HTCC conference; NOTHING about the faculty who supported the students - the only person named in the paragraph is Glenn.
Again, that was already stated and the point of the post, sheesh. Oblivious.........
Of course, Glenn doesn't really write his report, does he? And most people don't read it so this comparison is helpful and the comments while they may repeat or emphasize the same issues are also useful, IMO. It's what we do in conversation - repeat, emphasize, circle back. Good for Saddleback. They got a winner.
10:41 that’s how you converse? How exhausting it must be to speak with you and your endless pontificating. Another great example of an over educated, self important faculty. We all know Dianne writes everything for him. Again, everybody knows this!
What is your point, 10:45? That Diane writes the report doesn't refute the notion that it represents Roquemore's perspective. If it did not, he wouldn't approve these reports. Obviously.
And what is it about 10:41's remark that inspires talk of pontification (you might invest in a dictionary) and being "over educated"?
Start making sense.
10:45, 10:41 isn't "conversing"; rather, he/she is commenting. And you obviously don't understand the term "pontificate" or the phenomenon of being "over educated." Neither applies here.
This clown, Roquemore, has been President for 17 years? That's unheard-of, isn 't it?
What's the matter with your Board of Trustees?
bunch of ignorant fux!
How about the strange inclusion of personal travel photos at the EOPS ceremony? Why would you do that?
I think it was meant as some kind of inspiration and humor well intended but a bit thoughtless. EOPS students are among our most financially challenged. Even if the impulse is to show photos of your African safari or your cockpit ride to show them what their education might bring, it's a bit, well, narcissistic and insensitive.
