Foundation funds discrepancy

At last Thursday’s Academic Senate (Rep Council) meeting, Senate officers muttered something about the IVC Foundation: “we still don’t know anything about our finances” there, said someone. The Ac. Sen. Prez noted that the situation has “raised eyebrows” high. Evidently, there is a discrepancy involving $60,000. An audit will get to the bottom of that. –Something about the Pro-IVC matching funds. They “can’t get the two sets of books to align.” In the past, the Senate Prez has discouraged theories involving the nefarious; rather, likely, mere nincompoopery is afoot.
     That’s an IVC motif.

No surprise, the Foundation has been a nightmare ever since Richard arrived. He had similar problems at Mt.Sac.

He can use the $50,000 check he got a few weeks ago. Glenn can help him carry it to the bank!

Big phony check = IVC Foundation...Any Questions?

Seriously, has anything been right with the Foundation since Richard arrived. Even after much hype, events are poorly planned or attended, the foundation continually puts out bogus information while the foundation board members (who all seem to be appointed by Richard or Glenn) turn a blind eye to what is going on. Al Tello is looking better all the time.
What we need is someone honest, forthright who can get the campus and community involved in our foundation.

Richard has no credibility on the campus or within the community. The board evidently doesn't seem to care about the students, faculty or staff. There is little communication with the campus and even less transparency or accountability for the money that is held by the foundation.

I share the harsh asessment of the Foundation Director; on the other hand, I'm not sure he has anything to do with keeping the books. This may be someone else's screwup. --RB

Let's all get our pitchforks!

Please note that my remark (11:10) is of the "please put the pitchforks down" variety. --RB

I agree with RB, no pitchforks. That said, who is responsible for the problems in the foundation and will someone be held accountable for the problems that have continued to plague the foundation?

9:03, for as long as Glenn Roquemore's in charge, that'lll never happen. Glenn's driving IVC into the dirt, and it appears that the chancellor and BOT are simply going to stand by and let that happen.

You are probably right, RB, but the foundation money belongs to the many individuals and groups on campus (not Richard or Glenn) and someone is required to be responsible for the money that the campus has placed in the trust of the foundation. Unfortunately, our current foundation board members are ineffective and lack the capability or comprehension of fiduciary responsibility.

I agree with 9:23 am, it doesn't seem like the current board members have any real investment (financial or personal) in the foundation. I don't believe they are looking out for our interests or helping develop a better, stronger foundation.

simple fact is this...
every couple years the foundation office goes through an audit, if there is any tom foolery it will be seen. Irvine has many companies with big wallets. in the history of this school no foundation director or president has brought in big money. always nickles and dimes. IVC needs a football team. then we can have big money.
