There's a can of worms here somewhere

Public administrator sues to get his job back (OC Reg)

John S. Williams, who is disputing whether he retired from his elected position as the county’s public administrator, has sued the county to be restored to the post and to regain access to his office, from which he has been locked out.
A hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday at Orange County Superior Court in Santa Ana on Williams’ petition for a writ of mandate ordering the county to restore him to his elected office, County Counsel Nick Chrisos confirmed….

Williams.......what a POS!

He's crazy like a fox. He will end up settling with the county for millions.

The county must also follow the law. People cannot simply be locked out because they're unpopular. Yes, he was probably banking on something like this, and now he'll make bank. Stupid, stupid people!

No, he won't be settling for millions. He doesn't have the damages to make any such absurd claim. He may be allowed to keep his post, and get some lost wages, and maybe some fees, but that's the worst case scenario.

What lost wages? Williams agreed to take $130K (salary for the Public Guardian position)for agreeing to resign on January 23rd. If the County failed to get this all in writing, then it is time for the CEO and County Counsel Crisos to be locked out of their offices as well.

Still think he'll walk with $$. It will be kept confidential, but a payout will be cheaper than releasing the dirt.

What's your alleged basis for his damages? He may have contract damages available, for pay, benefits, fees and costs, etc. But to get real damages, he needs to plead and prove a tort claim, and that looks remote.

damages flow from the impropriety of the acts of either the board of supervisors collectively or john moorlach individually

Damages may "flow" but on what legal basis? Any tort claim? I think not.
