Further items of interest for Monday's board meeting

Monday's meeting will include the board's annual "organization meeting." It'll be interesting to see who seeks to preside over this board. Padberg? (Earlier post: Williams to be honored)

Item 5.16 on the agenda for Monday's board meeting is trustee requests for conferences. Evidently, trustee(s) have expressed an interest in the following:

Gosh. The Sacramento CCL conference will cost $430 per day (per trustee) and the "other" (?) Sacramento CCL conference (which overlaps with the first) costs nearly $700 a day. Wow.
How come the San Diego conference is so pricey? I mean: shouldn't they just be driving in each day?

Item 5.2 is Saddleback College's now-famous Santander "study abroad" trip:

Let's see if Tom Fuentes carps about it, as he has in the past, owing to Spain's "abandonment" of our "fighting men and women."

Item 6.8 concerns the Dean Kathleen Schrader Brouhaha:

Word is that Roquemore and Justice totally F-ed up the Schrader "firing."

Item 6.6 is "Academic Personnel items," including:

The Werle hire was agendized last month, but wasn't approved, owing to a Wagnerian tantrum. IVC Administration seems to expect the hire to go through this time, now that Wagner has gone to greener pastures.
Bill Kelly, formerly a SOCCCD Vice Chancellor, will be Schrader's temporary replacement.

I'd think that the various varying accounts of Shrader's firing that Glen has given in public (and in private with many other staff and faculty) will only make it worse for him in court.

Not that Glen isn't inclined to perjure himself when it suits him - but it will get a bit funky if Shrader's lawyers begin to summon the other faculty and staff that Glen took aside in teh days that followed and ask them what was said.

The OC Reg has an article about Williams' resignation from the SOCCCD board today here. Be sure to read the comments.

$700 a day to go to a "workshop" to get some trivial information that cuold easily be set forth in a pamphlet. Good thing they're fiscally conservative.

Was there any discussion of an early-retirement incentive for instructors? Rumor had it that it was likely to have been discussed at this meeting.
