Saddleback College reports surge in enrollment
Saddleback College officials are reporting a seven percent enrollment increase from last year – attributing the surge to state college cuts and the faltering economy….
7%, eh? Good for them.
What’s curious is that, though the article mentions that the SOCCCD includes IVC, it doesn't mention that, at Irvine Valley College, enrollments have increased much more.
Shitloads more.
If you go to the district Almanac, you’ll find that, at least as of mid-January, headcount is up 7.3% at Saddleback.
But it's up 14.4% at IVC.
Headcount shmedcount
—More importantly, FTES (full-time equivalent student) is up 8.0% at Saddleback.
But it's up 16.4% at IVC.
OK, I'll say it. IVC is twice as good as Saddleback College. Nyah!
They don't even know how to spell
"Library" at Saddleback College
Hey, there's no dang School of
Micromanagement at Irvine Valley College.
We have standards!
IVC students are generally acknowledged to be
twice as attractive as Saddleback College students
Saddleback College has long been plagued with large vermin.
Meanwhile, vermin-free IVC has remained on the cutting edge of innovation and all manner of whiz-bangery
Saddleback College professors publish such tripe as Econo-Prof Howard Gensler's notoriously juvenile Avenger of Blood
IVC faculty, however, have organized the internationally acclaimed festival of helium known as "Blue and White Balloon Day."

OK, the students at Irvine are more attractive. So what! One does not measure the value of a school by determining the attractiveness of students!
I prefer the term "more gooder."
OCR knows IVC is nothing more than the north campus of Saddleback College (hee, hee, hee!!!)
Chunk, you are right! I read the OCR today, and was surprised that, IVC was not metioned.
Helium: goood. Toxic, death-trap, plastic balloons: baaad.
You're right 4:47! We need more attractive teachers!
IVC rocks!!!
Hey Chunk, no fair photoshopping the mis-spelling of LIBRARY......
We're also better cause we GOT RID OF Gensler and Saddleback took him.
but Gensler single-handedly saved the economy if China - just ask him!
8:57, this is a spoof, OK? IVC's Performing Arts Center does not have Tartan walls, Godzilla does not attend Saddleback College, and there is no "School of Micromanagement." (On the other hand, Gensler really did "publish" that awful book and IVC students are more attractive.)
I agree with this post. Saddleback North is a better college.
When will the SOCCCD faculty get over pitting Saddleback against IVC? The faculty's focus must be on the incompetence of our District's highest Executive, and the repugnant, self-serving, “majority” of the Board of Trustees who obvious despise its own faculty. SOCCCD will never receive the prestige it deserves, because our Board of Trustees and the Senior Executive have for years disgraced our District by making it the laughing stock of all of the Community Colleges in California. Try attending ACCCA to hear the jokes shared by so many regarding our District’s leadership.
As faculty, we should focus on purging the individuals, who bring this disgrace to our District, but focus on the outstanding, diligent, dedicated, and intellectual faculty working at our two extraordinary centers of higher education. Until the faculty of the two colleges unifies, and recognizes each other and their mutual contributions to students, the real problems, or indeed, scandals of the Chancellor and the Board will continue to fly under the radar and will persist like the cancer it is.
7:06, I do think you've misunderstood the tone of this piece.
I love this posting!Such good news...especially since there are so many other cc's near IVC.
