Industrious bastards!
.....As you know, the SOCCCD is plainly going to hell in a handbasket.
.....Today, the matter took on a new dimension, as bees invaded and attacked a portion of the A300 building at Irvine Valley College. I learned this when, at about 11:00 a.m. this morning, Rebel Girl ran into the office, saying only, "bees."
.....I immediately grabbed my camera and followed her out the door.
.....She walked me to the site of the invasion. We stared up at the southwest corner of the building for a while. We shook our heads. I took two photos.
....."Industrious bastards!" I said.

Other than the bees, is anything else happening?
Haven't heard a peep from the union since last week - they should have a blog where they post updates and dispense advice. At times like these, the leadership should be in regualr communication with its membership.
MY union had a blog or website where they posted regulzr updates (sometimes weekly) reagrding contract negotiations - it was used solely as a tool for the duration of the negotiations. They also used it to post info regarding pay scales at nearby colleges, etc.
It became a resource so when the time came to take some kind of action or response, the union had done its work educating its members. During this time, the union also used this as a way of providing guidance and advice.
People felt taken care of by their leadership and that increased participation.
In some ways, it made it easy on the leaders and saved on all those phone calls and emails.
You guys should think about it.
Hideous winged fiends!
A300 has been infested with bees for years, and sending the last-hired up on the roof with a can of foam hasn't done more than to make the bees move to another corner. How much is it costing to renovate this leaky hive?
Can the bees be relocated without being destroyed?
The college doesn't seem to be very good about protecting bees. We're lucky when they manage to protect students.
The bees went away on their own. They usually do.
Maybe they were done with their 16.5 college service hours.
How interesting that bees, which many learned folks have warned us are disappearing at an abnormal, mysterious, and alarming rate globally (cause unknown, last I read) are showing ut at IVC! Maybe it is a good omen. Thank you kindly, 11:08, for your rare thought that it would be good not to destroy these creatures.
