“Travelin’ Man”: One year of John Williams' travel on the district's dime

GOSH, I never seem to go anywhere, what with a job and responsibilities and all.

But wait! Trustee John Williams is, well, a trustee. Plus he’s Orange County’s Public Administrator. Big bucks, man.

And that’s not all! He’s also OC’s Public Guardian!

He must be awfully busy. And responsible! And conservative! I bet he doesn’t get to travel much, nosiree! Not with all those duties!

He's a public servant, y'know.

There’s this guy who emails me sometimes. He knows about John. He knows that John works at the County with those two big, complicated, fancy jobs. He figured John must be up to his eyeballs in busy work.

But he kept hearing about these trips John takes as a trustee for the SOCCCD. Florida, Utah, Sacramento, and Florida again! Seems like he's been trippin' like that for years! But what about all those responsibilities?

It just didn’t add up!

So he put in a request at the district for info about John’s district “travel and training.” (It’s all paid for by the taxpayer, y’know.)

Well, the other day, the guy received some of that information and he sent it my way. Thanks!
Gosh! That John Williams is an amazing guy! Here he is Administratin’ and Guardianatin’ and trusteeinatin’—and yet he finds time to zoom all over the map, going to conferences in Florida, then Palm Springs, then Sacramento, then Florida—and then Florida again!

Here’s some of the info: John’s trips (re the SOCCCD) for one year, starting in January 26, 2008 and ending January 27, 2009:

He's also an elected official to the Orange County Republican Central Committee - does that come with any travel perks? I am sure he does all that on County time as well. I also see that he gets over $16k in benefits. How can one use all the benefits that the County gives him and also ANOTHER $16K in benefits by another tax payer paid entity? Do they reimburse him for his hair pieces?

I need a vacation. I think I will run for political office. Colleen Callahan is getting my vote for Orange County Public Administrator!

Impressive. The Jan 08 conference is on M-T - then he flies to Florida in February , missing another Monday, maybe Tuesday too - then in March 08 it's another three work days (M,T,W) - then in that April, four more workdays for two more conferences - a Tuesday, then W, Th and Friday - and that's only the first four months!!!! Plus travel time - than all those meetings... wow.

He's obviously ripping off the taxpayers to visit his family in Florida. Douchebag.

Chris Street has been found guilty. Williams is next! And they have the same attorney. Yikes!
