Less than a week before his Final Exit, the Chancellor of the South Orange County Community College District, Raghu P. Mathur, has issued an email "goodbye" to members of the district community:
Dear Colleagues,
I would like to take this opportunity to express my deepest appreciation to all of you, my colleagues over these past thirty-four years in the South Orange County Community College District. We have accomplished so much together: new buildings, newly renovated buildings and a new campus, so many new faculty and staff members, significantly expanded online education and services, deployment of new technology in instructional, student and administrative services, phenomenal enrollment growth and our greatest hallmark: high quality education in the classroom and services for our students.
Education is the most noble profession and we are all educators, each in our own way. The education and learning at our three campuses is making a wonderful difference for our students and enabling them to make changes in their lives so they can make changes in our region, State, nation and the world. In many ways, change that students make in the world is our greatest reward.
I have loved serving as a faculty member, a college president and your chancellor. I look forward to learning about your continuing accomplishments in the months and years ahead. Please accept my heartfelt gratitude for your hard work and dedication in serving our students.
With Warmest Regards,
Raghu
Meanwhile, IVC President Glenn Roquemore and his crew have announced a special "Independence Day" celebration. It's scheduled for the day immediately after Mathur's exit!
Something tells me that there's more than one kind of independence goin' on here.

Of course there is! Glen's email came minutes after Raghu's - and both shared key words in their subject line! Party on!
ha ha ha
I don't want to go to Glen's BBQ for all sorts of reasons (G., C., G., W., A., R, B...) but tell me where the cool kids are having their fun and I'll be there...(please)
The cool kids do not party. They blog.
What about the Checkers speech?
I could watch Nixon resign every day of my life. Maybe I will. (The Checkers speech doesn't fit Raghu as much as this one does...think about it.)
Perfect clip from the Nixon speech. Mathur hated, and destroyed himself. Like Nixon, if Mathur had shown a little honesty and generosity of spirt, instead of pettiness and malice, he would probably not be on the way out.
His loss and very much our gain.
Why does Raghu insist on capitalizing state?
Grammar mistakes to the very end.
Will there be veggie dogs?
The IVC Independence day BBQ menu is as follows:
appetizers:
Vietnamese spring rolls;
Greek salad with kalamata olives; Yukon Gold potato salad; assorted cheeses and fruits
entrees:
carne asada
chicken
Yves veggie hot dogs
dessert:
assorted cupcakes (carrot, chocolate, lemon)
Be there or be hungry!
I thought it was just burgers.
I don't get it. Nixon hated himself?
