There's a nice piece in the Times today featuring Manzarek's role with X, and Exene Cervenka. Isn't our RG good friends with Exene? I remember a story some time ago on the blog.

Rebel Girl WISHES she was good firends with Exene. She is just a fan and she and Exene do frequent the same thrift stores.

I recall seeing Manzarek performing with a poet (I don't recall his name) at CSU Fullerton maybe twenty years ago. He seemed to be a cool and talented guy. His association with X didn't hurt a bit.

I also saw Manzarek with a poet (and whose name I also forget) at the Pub at CSUF but much earlier--in the late 70's. It was a tiny venue, probably holding about 60 people at the most. They talked, played some music, read some poetry together and separately, and gave us all an intimate experience. I'm guessing Manzarek must have had some connection to the Fullerton campus.

He often appeared with the likes of Michael McClure and that gang.
