Here’s an update on the effort to change IVC’s mascot, the Laser.
I communicated with a reliable source who informs me that the process continues but has taken longer than expected for a variety of reasons. My source assures me that the people involved in this process are doing everything they can to avoid the “lame,” the “racist,” and the “illegal.” (My source is funny.)
It is better to do things right, deep throat says, than to do things quickly.
Students—including student government—are the chief players in the process. So, there you go.
Apparently, the team’s goal is to put the matter to a vote right after Spring Break, if possible. Students will be presented with many nominations.
Bobcats, anyone? Aphids?
Rinos!

I'm still in favor of The IVC Toxic Plumes! Like poison pens, only completely different...

Love the "Toxic Plumes." So timely, so aggressive. Plus local color and a nod to our military past!
The "Valley Vultures"
The Comets!
What did they do to the scholarship program? Didn't they just raise a lot more money for it? Isn't that why that big red thermometer was hung on the side of the Student Services Building?
I suggest a sure fund raising idea for IVC. It could be held in the fall after the Laguna Beach Festival of Art Festival.
I suggest 'The Bad Faith Artists Festival and Mud Sling'.
Sadly, it can no longer be 'The Pageant of the Mathurs', but it is what it is.
The site of the 'Festival and Mud Sling' could be held in the North parking area, and would draw a lot of traffic from passersby, as well as students and faculty. Eligibility would be open and not invitation only, this will allow the maximum participation, and ensure a wide audience.
The audience's close proximity to rotten oranges will spur the activity on.
'The Pageant of the Mathurs'
I'm going to die laughing...! ES
Seriously - I love it. I'm saying it aloud and it makes me feel like Igor...so funny!
What a wonderful graphic (the tortoise and hare contemplating the desert)! Where did you find it?
MAH
Who's in charge of the IVC scholarship program? I didn't get asked to write any letters this year.
MAH, you can find the images here
"Pageant of the Mathurs" is indeed funny. Not so sure about this "mud sling" business.
I'm glad there are Pratchett fans out there that immediately thought of Igor. I wonder how far RB could have got saying "Yeth Mathur", instead of Goo, which I always thought was just shortening the name Raghu. But when i think that RM could have taken it seriously as deference to him I get nauseous. So goo man goo! and well done.
