Fit hitting shan for Wohn Jilliams
The always-colorful Orange Juice Blog has received a rather peculiar press release. (See The Sh*t just keeps hitting the fan, for Public Administrator John Williams.)
It was sent by a well-known law firm and it announces an event tomorrow morning in front of the Orange County Public Guardian Office—that’s right: John Williams’ office.
Evidently, Bill Mitchell, former chairman of OC Common Cause, and Patricia Wenskunas, founder CEO of Crime Survivors, Inc. and Crime Victims United of California, Ruth Hull-Richter, crime victim (evidently the person at the heart of the recent Spitzer episode), and Hull-Richter’s lawyer will announce that they are asking Jerry Brown
The press release includes “background”:
I don't know squat. I am sans clue.
But this sure is interesting!

To Formally Investigate Orange County Public Guardian John S. Williams For His Effort To Raise Revenue To Solve His Office’s Budget Deficit Problems By Pressuring Victims To Give Up Control Over Their Personal Assets.Well, OK. Presumably, this has something to do with a similar request reported last night by the Voice of OC. That request seemed to come from another entity entirely, an association of law enforcement groups.
Audio Of Domestic Threats To Kill Crime Victim Will Be Played. [!?]
The press release includes “background”:
Under heat from the Orange County Grand Jury, who recently issued two scathing reports accusing him of incompetence and questionable personnel practices, and Orange County CEO Tom Mauk, who has recommended changing his elected position to an appointed one, Orange County Public Guardian John S. Williams is now under pressure from County Supervisors to fix his office’s serious budget shortfall problem. The Crime Victims believe he is pressuring victims to give up control over their personal assets to help raise revenue to solve his problem. Yesterday, the 80,000 member California Coalition of Law Enforcement Associations (CCLEA) also asked the AG to get involved.OJ Blog says it is hoping that the “brilliant” Roy Bauer can shed light on this mysterious business.
