"Learning styles" debunked

 

     The degree to which the education community—even the higher education community—accepts trendy, unscientific codswallop is stunning, and disturbing. 
     Remember the "whole language" vs. "phonics" battle, starting in the 50s? The long-discredited "whole language" approach is still insisted upon in much of K-12 and it infests college instruction to a degree as well. See Systematic rational failures and SLOs: part I (DtB).      The sad truth is that many educators have no understanding of the notion of evidence or scientific method.
