That mean, mean Katie Couric asking for specifics!
Doesn't Palin herself have a BA in journalism?
Palin is perfectly capable of answering questions off the cuff. She is obviously, in this case, uncomfortable with giving an answer. I can see that if she named a publication, that could be taken as an endorsement so she dodges the question.
Next attempt to smear Palin please!
If anyone is interested in what the candidates read, they might check out the fact that Biden liked what he read so much that he plagiarized it! But then again you would have to be interested in the facts rather than the hype.
Yes, Sarah Palin has a BA in journalism. That's about it.
TB, are you incapable of honesty? Obviously, this woman is out of her league. Are the following conservatives "smearing" Palin?
From The Age.com:
National Review editor Rich Lowry called [Palin's interview] performance "dreadful". ... "I think she has pretty thoroughly — and probably irretrievably — proven that she is not up to the job of being president of the United States," columnist David Frum said. And referring to George Bush snr's oft-ridiculed vice-president, he added: "Dan Quayle never in his life has performed as badly as Sarah Palin in the last month." ... Conservative columnist Kathleen Parker went further by calling on Mrs Palin to quit, warning that the Alaskan Governor could cost running mate John McCain the campaign. "If BS were currency, Palin could bail out Wall Street herself," Parker wrote.
Biden's "plagiarism" was his paraphrasing of part of a British politician's speech. On many occasions, he had explicitly indicated that he was adapting the politician's words. On two occasions, he neglected to mention this.
This is well known. Is it a big deal? I can't see how.
Torabora. You've got to be kidding. Palin flunked out of two community colleges. For three weeks now she has been putting her foot in her mouth. This is not a smear. Her own party is starting to realize what a big mistake it was to pick her as a running mate.
Couric want's specifics huh? Why doesn't she interview Obama & Biden this same way? Because she won't. It's obvious she's biased and people can see right through her BS.
Why won't Couric put on her special condescension glasses (looking down her intellectual nose) and ask Obama about his plans to reneg on NAFTA? Boy he really knows his international relations! How about Obama announcing at a campaign rally that 10,000 people in Kansas just died when the number was actually 12? How about asking Biden about FDR being on TV in October 1929? FDR wasn’t the president and TV hadn’t been invented until the 1950s! These two idiots can’t even get their facts straight! Why won’t DTB post any of those youtube videos? They’re widely available. Common! Equal time I say!
The truth is that some are terrified of Palin because she’s a real viable candidate and she’s smart to boot. Sure anyone can regurgitate a bunch of history, but at least get your facts straight! I predict she will mop the floor with Biden on Thursday until all his hair plugs come out! That phony jerk!
9:46 Leave it to you to invent a whole new smear on Palin. We read it first here on DtB that Palin flunked out of community college (as if flunking out of a community college is different than flunking out of anywhere else).
A note on that (this blog being about community colleges [among other things]), the implication is that flunking out of a community college implies that you are stupider than say, flunking out of Harvard. Quite the college snob aren't we? Are you saying community colleges are "easier" hence harder to flunk out of. Talk to Chunk about that issue, OK?
9:45 Biden was also busted plagiarizing in law school.
9:41 Chunk; Why yes! They certainly are. You can't tell?
None of you get it! The issues that are important are not being addressed. Let's keep people looking up skirts and call that news. In the mean time this country and its economy is being flushed. Neither one of these jokers or their running mates have a clue as to what to do about it. But, lets not ask them. Lets find out what they read.
10:40 YOU are correctomundo! Unfortunately the Constitution only has two qualifiers for Presidential eligibility. We don't elect the best person for the job, we elect the better of the two candidates. The last candidates standing seem to be pretty mediocre compared to folks at the top of other professions. Their main attribute seems to be, to be able to take heaps of crap flung at them. It helps if they are already dirty since they won't notice it as much.
Perhaps we should go back to having Kings? I vote "W" for King! Chunk would go insane.
For the record, I read:
NY Times
Dissent the Blog
People Magazine
And not always in that order.
"Obviously, this woman is out of her league."
Why do you believe Palin is out of her leaque? Is it because the leftist media told you so?
How about that debate? she certainly met the challenge and proved you all wrong.
True, she is not part of the leftist Washington "business as usual mentality" league of Joe Biden, for she is in a league of her own. The correct league.
According to Wikipedia, "The first regular television broadcasts began in 1937."
I seem to recall reading that there were indeed TV broadcasts (perhaps "irregular") in 1929, in New York.
I can't see why Palin would take heat for revealing that she reads newspapers, even the "liberal media elite" sort: New York Times, Washington Post, etc. My guess is that she was flustered and falsely thought that the question was sensitive, politically. It is not. Reading a paper is not the same as endorsing it.
As for Thursday's debate, Palin did well, but only if one counts style over substance. She made many more errors than her opponent, and she relied on flash--winking, etc. Only STUPID PEOPLE fail to distinguish between a successful argument and a successful wink.
