It's nice how it all works out like that.
Yep, same thing as Richard Morley did, just bring in your own buddies and let the campus be damned. Amazing this all goes on in A100 yet Glen is unaware.
GR is very much aware. Either doesn't care or is completely spineless. The ugly part is that not only does not practice what he preaches, he wipes his ass with it and throws it at our feet while he smiles for the photo ops. Dirty, dirty, dirty......
Glen knows but he doesn't have to care because the Chancellor and the board don't care.
7:34 thank you for giving me a good laugh. That's very funny. The sad part is that as funny as it sounds, it is the truth.
What a trite gossip blog!
It's like TMZ, except about everyday, non-prolific people. I find it amusing the creators take themselves so serious (several are editors of other local publications -- seriously?!)
"You write your snide bullshit from a dark room because that's what the angry do nowadays." -- The Social Network
I am not sure what TMZ is (I guess that suggests I am not as cool as the previous commentator) but I think the blog serves a purpose that that is sorely needed around here: some kind of communication beyond a press release. What do you mean by "non-prolific" people?
It's fairly well read and well written and is the go-to spot when something happens. I don't think the writers take themselves as seriously as you might suggest - haven't you read about their cats and trips with their parents? No one is forced to read it. It serves a purpose. Meow. This is where I first heard about Helen - what has happened?
Isn't that illegal?
7:10, you are clearly mistaken. This blog is the absolutely essential source of information related to the SOCCCD and IVC. Case in point: it is here that we find out about the firing of Helen Locke. What do we get from the administration? An email this morning from Diane Oaks telling us to direct our inquiries related to the Office of Student Life or ASIVC to the VP of Student Services. No explanation why that is the case. If you actually read the blog, you'd notice that the editors go to great lengths to verify or refute information they receive. THAT is what separates this blog from "trite gossip." So get over yourself.
Not sure what you mean by "get over myself." Not sure how there is ego involved in my assessment. And it seems such a teenage response is more applicable to a statement like "this blog is the absolutely essential source of information." Wow. Now that's a bombastic and unlikely statement!
The blog is reactionary; it posts information as it unfolds and then remedies inaccuracies after-the-fact (if it remedies them at all). Sure, this is also the practice of major media outlets such as Fox, but if that style of reporting is your thing, then your claims of authenticity are disingenuous.
And at the same time you make such claims of legitimacy for the site's worthiness as a news source, you or someone else points out that the editors pause to reflect on their felines or personal outings.
The blog -- and it is only a blog, not a news source -- is reactionary and dishonest. It is at times comical -- but probably not in the way you believe it to be.
Thanks for your opinion, oh brave, brave Anonymous.
I have always appreciated what the blog has done whether it is trying to report on events or coverage of meetings or links to academic topics or local news beyond the district - it's a nice mix. And challenging too because as you say -"things unfold" - but the community wants to know, even as it unfolds. Sometimes the blog is the ONLY place where we find out what happened. I think they do a good job. I also like the personal posts and pictures too. Roy's photos of campus are the best.
Fox News? Now there's an "unlikely statement." The blog isn't for everyone, but most readers I know look to it for what we do need to know.
Dear 1:43PM - Evidently you don't find the blog to be informative and prefer to wait until you get your information after things "unfold".
Let me know when your unfolded info is sent regarding Darryl Cox and Helen Locke. Look, no publication is ever 100% correct, but at least the blog allow individuals to post follow-up or correcting comments. The lack of communication from IVC administration is what causes the void. I personally prefer information that is reflective of what is going on, Evidently you prefer history. Let us know how that works for you and don't bother to post it here,
Actually, I think the blog does well with both developing stories AND archival ones. This is the new media.
We all know what happened to Helen. They (the top admin of IVC) found someone CF to go after her and try to dig up some dirt. I hope she sues the ass off this district. She has been a really good advocate of the student body for years. She just crossed Rocky a time too many. He's been after her for years.
