...Senate Bill 8 would apply to the likes of the UC Irvine Foundation (with net assets of $255.5 million), the CSU Fullerton Philanthropic Foundation (with net assets of $51.5 million) and would “bring greater transparency and accountability to California’s public higher education institutions – University of California, California State University, and the state’s community college system,” according to its rabble-rousing author, Sen. Leland Yee (pictured below).
“SB 8 will ensure UC, CSU and the community college auxiliaries and foundations adhere to state public records laws. Under SB 8, all other financial records, contracts, and correspondence would be subject to public disclosure upon request...

Maybe this will bring some more accountability to the IVC Foundation.
I didn't know they didn't have to make their records public. It's about time.
Rumor has it there is a shakeup in the Foundation. Evidently they hired a counsultant to do a review and make recommendations (no they didn't give Al Tello a procscope exam to locate his head)but supposedly Glenn has been trying to run the Foundation and some Board members are not happy. Evidently Glenn did not appreciate people speaking up about problems with Al Tello.
Also heard they moved the accountant (he seemed like a knowledgeable and collegial fellow) over to Davit's area.
Someone should do some investigating, as it appears Glenn wants to spend some big $$$$ to have the consultant run the Foundation (isn't that what they pay Tello for?...very interesting indeed!
Paying two people (or more!) to do one job is just the way they do it here...how does this all connect to the scholarship program and its protocols?
Glenn's not going to make anything public, he runs the Foundation with his lackey Al Tello...just listen to Tello sometime, it's always "Glenn said", Glenn wants" "Glenn thinks",etc. Remember, Al is an FOF (Friend of Fuentes and an ex aide to some political hack he has no fundraising or management experience) so Glenn will protect him no matter what happens.
I heard that Al Tello was working for Davit now...what's with that?
Al works very hard on behalf of all the students. If he needs help to get his job done it's only because he has been so successful at it.
5:53 Exactly what does Al do on behalf of students? Of what success do you speak, or is your comment toungue-in-cheek?
Al is a tireless professional who spends all his time raising money for deserving students. He is a visionary in his field. We are lucky to have him. During this tragic time of economic downturns, he has burst all records for IVC foundation fundraising.
7:51, as far as I know, no one has suggested that Al does not work hard.
There are two problems with Al Tello at IVC: (1) he is incompetent, and anyone who has worked with him knows it. (2) He owes his job, not to qualifications are abilities, but to the circumstance that he is an associate of trustee Tom Fuentes, a fellow notorious for getting his friends hired and otherwise well-situated, contrary to fairness and effectiveness.
You can call Al a "visionary" if you like, but you'll need to explain that to us.
Obviously, that the Foundation recently has been more successful in collecting donations does not by itself establish that Al is responsible for that success. Many at IVC would say that this has been achieved despite Al.
You're just jealous.
8:25 AM is correct, the entire campus is jealous. Imagine being able to sit in your office all day looking at a computer screen (Facebook anyone?...maybe communicating with with some well known congressmen..not Wagner, Weiner)and being paid big $$$. Not only that, if you can't do your job, we'll pay someone else to do it for you.
Glenn needs to realize what a horrible reflection this is on his leadership, after all, Al Tello reports to him.
7:51 AM Boy am I glad I had a dictionary. I had
an incorrect interpretation of what a Visionary is. Here is the defination:
From Dictionary.com:
Visionary definition, given to or characterized by fanciful, not presently workable, or unpractical ideas, views, or schemes.
Sound about right.
