The list grows

Here’s a List of Colleges That Require Students or Employees to Be Vaccinated Against Covid-19

(Chronicle of Higher Education)

As colleges look toward the fall semester, they’re grappling with whether to require — or just strongly encourage — students to be vaccinated against Covid-19.

Below is a map showing the locations of colleges that are requiring vaccines of at least some students or employees. The states are color-coded based on how each voted in the 2020 presidential election. That’s followed by a graphic showing the pace at which campuses have made their announcements. Institutions that have said their requirement hinges upon full approval of one or more vaccines by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration are included in this list. Below that is a searchable list of those campuses.

The Chronicle has so far identified 742 such campuses....

I'm all for that. Protect others while you protect yourself.

FFS
Eliot Stern said in his presentation monday that he expects students to get covid from each other this fall at saddleback. so enrollment is better than human lifes.

It was also stated at SC that students will NOT be required to notify professors or the health center if they test positive for COVID. If the colleges / district really were serious about having students back on campus they would have the layered protection of vaccine verification, weekly testing , mask mandates with quality masks , contact tracing , and getting the best ventilation upgrades s possible. As of now , it is just a indoor mask mandate and some ventilation upgrades. Enrollment concerns are more important clearly than having all safety procedures.

This is nuts. The district needs to step up and implement a mandate for Spring NOW. Does someone have a link to Stern's remarks?

How many classes are meeting in person at SC?

I think folks misunderstood Stern. You can't be told WHICH student is COVID positive.

The remark about students not being required to notify faculty or the health center about a positive test was discussed during a division meeting. The question was asked what was the protocol for faculty if a student notifies about a positive test, and the answer was that students are not required to notify, but faculty can contact Health Sciences. This should be clarified by higher-ups if it was inaccurate information. Of course, students' information would remain private, but the issue of concern is if students are required to notify or not. That does not appear to be the case at this time.

It should not be this confusing.

By the way, ASIVC today adopted a resolution to encourage the board to adopt a vaccine mandate.

The same attention to health safety applied to the athletes should be applies to ALL students.

While our board takes their sweet time to find the most politically comfortable time to enact the inevitable mandate, people's health is put at risk and our enrollments and retention rates plummet.

9:35, Tell this to Biden not the board! People's health is at risk because he opened the border to millions of people many of whom have COVID! We students know that your enrollments and retention rates are plummeting because of your stupid political agenda! If you truly believe that vaccine is effective and assuming that you have been vaccinated, what are you worried about? Where is your logic? You are only showing students how dumb you professors are! I can guarantee you that if you push this vaccine mandate you will all be jobless!

You’re pushing your luck union lady! Your being a tenured faculty does not guarantee a permanent job. The board will not cower to your whimsical demand, control freak!

Anonymous said...

Calm down, let the Academic Senate and union people take responsibility for wrongful deaths of students, faculty and employees by incentivizing and mandating vaccination! This is controlled by a small group of faculty trying to bully the Board!

Pay attention to this: https://youtu.be/If37GdQLqa4

Clearly some of the commentators have not had much of an education. We all need to be safe: from flu, to small pox, to polio, to Covid. We see vaccines at work. Does anyone really not want to be healthy, have their children and friends sick? We each need to be mindful.

Clearly your district is controlled by your faculty union! You have the right to be vaccinated but you do not have the right to impose this on others! To all who do not believe in MANDATORY vaccination, stop your union from taking away your freedom!

If you pay your union dues through your payroll department, all you need to do is email your payroll department and your union president. Let them know you are canceling your membership—you are NOT required to provide an explanation. You are NOT required to mail your request for as long as they acknowledged receipt of your cancellation in writing! Do not let them coerce you into keeping your membership! If they do in any way, document everything! There are attorneys out there who can fight for you on this!

@ 7:19: Clearly you are speaking out of your arse. The union cannot dictate a mask mandate. Only the board based on recommendations from the chancellor and the presidents.

Oh, and masks saves lives asshole.

Anonymous said...

ONLY the Board of Trustees can decide about the mask mandate.

Evidently, it is necessary to point out that I do not write any of the comments that appear here—with the exception of those explicitly signed by "Roy Bauer."
Sheesh.

8:40 pm, 8:37 am, What mask mandate? You union people have been pushing the vaccination incentive and vaccination mandate during the flex week making faculty—who do not agree with you—very uncomfortable! Now you’re all saying that ONLY “the board based on the recommendations from the chancellor and the presidents” can mandate vaccination [trying to confuse the readers with mask] mandate? Everyone knows (or should know) that the board has the ultimate decision, but the posts here clearly state that you want to pressure (or are pressuring) the board to mandate vaccination! A sleazy way of “trying” to avoid liability in case of wrongful death lawsuits???

You “F***ULTY“ go back to work and serve your students! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

“F***ULTY“? Garsh, you must be some kind of intellectual or something. Nice going.

Agree, 7:19 pm!

Don’t waste your money on union dues. I never did and never will!

Give it up 10:27 ... the board and the administrators work with the union for the benefit of the few and at the expense of the part-timers. Obviously, it's quid pro quo! Don't be so naive ... read the posts here and their interaction on social media. Didn't you read the chancellor's message yesterday commending the union negotiators for spending extra hours outside of their responsibilities? These negotiators are paid extra to do this work!

That's also why they get the best parking spots and free tickets to all the football games plus rounds of golf at Pelican Hill. And the harbor cruises.

SO true! Have you you seen the kind of cars these two bloggers drive? That's where our taxpayer money is going! Fancy wheels.

Not to mention, hanging out for fancy meals. I’ve seen these negotiators dining with the BOT at some not-so-cheap restaurants.

Shameless people!

I know just what you mean! Those sandwich platters from Panera run into the thousands over time. Plus sometimes they order soup! And then their are the junkets to Acapulco and Hawaii!

Hey f***ulty! The more you post here, the more you turn off your students with your misspelling, incorrect grammar, and above all…unprofessionalism! This is contrary to what your college president portrays in his video productions which, by the way, reminds me of the movie, “Life is Beautiful! LMAO!
