An often anti-intellectual campaign to leave the European Union triumphed, leaving scholars in Britain wondering why so many appear to distrust them.

Academicians were ignored because the citizens figured out that they are consistently wrong, wrong and wrong. The notion that the leave proponents are simply uneducated/uninformed is just stupid but it's nothing new. That's what the left always asserts. Another dumb notion is that the leave proponents were able to somehow dominate social media, when it is a well known fact that the left basically dominates and controls it as they do with public education the content in textbooks, and their one sided BBC. Even with the special EU acceptance of GB not having to give up their pound for the euro, Brits were still feeling the pain of social, political, ecological and environmental mandates and bureaucratic constrictions, things that were sure to rob the prople of GB of their national identity, personal freedoms and independence. The fact remains that membership to the EU for a majority of Brits turned out to be academia's grandios, failed social experiment. So, let those few wise people continue to try conjuring up reasons why the vote didn't go their way. We see that the economic scare from the left hasn't really materialized either. Since Einstein was mentioned in the article, wasn't it also he who gave us the definition of insanity? Ya know, repeating that same experiment over and over again, expecting a different result... That grandiose social experiment known as the EU.
2:49: it's alway the same with you, isn't it? All assertion; no argument.
I thought he/she made a supurb argument with several good points. Another one is that the leave crowd has been at it for years, so the author's assertion that people were somehow ignorant is falacious. People have been rejecting academia because they are tired of the lies and of being on the losing end. Isn't it laughable how the remain crowd wants a do-over vote and that its being regularly reported in the state controlled media? If the vote came down the other way we can be sure to never see or hear from those objecting and a do-over would be completely out of the question.
3:24: you're doing it again. You assert that academics issue "lies." Evidence? None given. Your "superb" argument—"the leave crowd has been at it for years, so the author's assertion that people were somehow ignorant is falacious [sic]"—is simply a non sequitur. (I suppose you'll have to look that up. Own a dictionary?) That the "remain crowd" wants a "do-over" (if such is the case), has no bearing on the correctness of their position (remain). You've committed an ad hominem. And "falacious" isn't spelled that way. Get an education.
Go get up Roy. We don't like "no argument types" especially without evidence.
Typical Roy the bully.
2:49 lambasted your your dumb article, Roy. Get over it, bullyboy!
I also tried to make sense of that article but it was reading like, "the exit was caused by global warming..." everything BUT the 64,000 lb. elephant in the room. No wonder there is a trust deficit over there. The academics have been telling the commoners for years, to open wide so they can shovel all that bovine excrement down their throats, like with clinate change and the junk science behind that.
