The little’s guy’s been home from the hospital since Wednesday night. Thursday morning, he didn’t look that great, though he was certainly happy to be home. By late Thursday, he seemed to be doing much better, acting pretty much like his usual self.
Today, Friday, we (Annie and I) brought him again to the vet to check his blood, etc. He was a real trooper. He didn’t complain. His red blood cell count was up to 25 (from 20), moving in the right direction. (35-45 is normal.)
He does have feline leukemia, we learned, and the situation is pretty serious, for, not only is his red blood cell count low, but so is his white blood cell count.
Long story short, his chances seem to be about 50/50 of surviving this “episode.” If he does survive, he’ll get by for a while on meds, and remission is possible. We’ve got our fingers crossed.
So, for now, he’s receiving chemo and various other medicines. (He's very vulnerable to infections right now.) He definitely doesn’t like taking his medicine—giving it to 'im is a bit of a nightmare—but he’s happy to be home, living with my folks, who fuss over him endlessly.
He’s a very loveable little guy, our Bugsy Boy.
P.S.: heard from the vet tonight. Today's blood test showed that Bugsy's "platelet count" is up, which is good. Still low, but, again, moving in the right direction.
P.P.S.: Just got back from this morning's medicine giving, and, thanks to Annie, it was a bit less traumatic (she used to do that sort of thing for a living). The Bugster looked good. Mighty feisty.

That he's feisty is excellent! My very best wishes to the little boy. So glad he has you and Annie looking out for him, as well as his befuddled "parents."
