Vern over at the OJ Blog reports on yesterday’s Board of Supes meeting, where the Supes decided to appoint an executive to oversee
John Williams and his imploding office. Says Vern,
This, as we’ve been saying, is a step toward finally separating Williams’ 5-figure PA gig (to which he was elected and cannot be removed from) from his coveted 6-figure PG gig (to which he was appointed and can totally be removed from.) And everybody fully expects the useless fellow to bugger off after that, after wangling whatever severance package he can wangle. Pajaritos are telling me that his demand Monday for a severance package was denied, that he’s now offering to resign as long as his #2 (and T-Rack’s fiancee) Peggi Buff is “protected,” and that in any case it will be somewhat unworkable to have both Williams and his new supervisor running the office – sort of like two bodies occupying the same space. Things should be pretty interesting for a few weeks, and come to a head some time in March. So predict my pajaritos.

How long can a person be a fiancee?
I ADORE how silent the district is on this - and the adminstration too - not that I know what they would say but boy I can dream about a day when someone somewhere acknowledges something, just once.
examples:
You know, we WERE wrong about Mike Carona - he is a kind of gangster.
You know, there WERE some funky hires during the Raghu era - Dennis White, the crazy guy in PE who attacked people, Howard Gensler, etc.
You know, Trustee Steve Frogue's holocaust denying DID cross the line.
You know, Trustee John Williams used the district to promote his own fortunes - and then used his public office to promote the fortunes of his pals and benefactors.
I can dream, can't I?
Couldn't John Williams have served nobly as a trustee - and only screwed up royally as an incompetent, skill-set lacking, corrupt Public Administrator/Guardian?
Aren't you guys being a little too hard on him?
Yes, 8:06, his stand on prayer (and his joke about atheists going to hell) was admirable; and his weeks in Orlando at the taxpayers' expense was truly impressive; and his vote against the Spanish study abroad trip was awe-inspiring; and on and on.
PAY ATTENTION.
John was a stalwart supporter of the college sport teams - and he like CAKE!
doesn't he babysit for Glenn and Kiana?
If JW is so corrupt, how come a recall was never organized?
Recalls are difficult. Back in 1998, we attempted to recall Steve Frogue, the SOCCCD trustee and holocaust denier. That was one of the most successful recall efforts in OC history (over 30,000 signatures), and yet it failed. In the end, he resigned under pressure. --BvT
Don't forget, he also saved the district from students attempting to use free internet on campus! (he learned that at a seminar in Orlando).
As I recall (no pun intended), there were two Frogue recall efforts that failed.
How can you then say those efforts were "successful" if the threshold for number of signatures was never met?
Wouldn’t that be more like failure than a “success?”
Nothing else to do today, 11:11? Shouldn't you be preparing a lesson plan or something to justify your salary?
11:11, you are obviously not very bright, but I'll give it one more try: those recalls collected an unprecedented number of OC signatures. As I recall, 10% of voters had to sign the petition, and that burden was too great to meet. This is an artifact of "at-large" offices. Get it now?
11:55, Isn't the threshold more like 6 point something percent?
It was 10%
