California Higher-Education System Needs Drastic Reforms, Report Says (Chronicle of Higher Education)
California’s vaunted higher-education system has stopped innovating and will need major restructuring in order to come anywhere near doing its part to meet President Obama’s degree-attainment goals, argues a report released today by the Center for Studies in Higher Education at the University of California at Berkeley. John A. Douglass, the paper’s author, says the state should create a centralized online university, allow some community colleges to issue four-year degrees, and create a new system of polytechnic universities that would train students in applied fields.

It's good that there are always room for improvement. Nowadays, online colleges are getting better and better. Online college is a great opportunity for those who really want to achieve their goal of success towards their career. So, I hope they will be consistent enough to achieve the high-quality standard.
If they produce robotic writers like the previous commentator, we are DOOMED.
In fact, robots write much better than 7:34.
A centralized university is a good idea; it will allow more students to obtain degrees. Especially those who are older and may need a more flexible schedule in order to obtain their degree. Allowing community colleges to issue 4 year degrees is an idea that has a lot of potential; hopefully that will make it more affordable to obtain a 4 year degree.
