Hmmm, according to this morning’s Washington Post (Palin Billed State for Nights Spent at Home), “Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has billed taxpayers for 312 nights spent in her own home during her first 19 months in office, charging a 'per diem' allowance intended to cover meals and incidental expenses while traveling on state business.”
It turns out that Palin often takes her kids and even her whole family to events in Alaska and elsewhere, and the state pays for it. When she visited New York for a Newsweek event a year ago, she took one of her kids. They stayed at a $707-a-night hotel.
Swanky!
Reminds me of Raghu Mathur and his $1000 chair. And his expensive Raghulia for commencement. And his "security allowance." And his Mercedes. And...
Gotta go. I've got a class.

No "inconvenient" detail here Chunk. The referenced article doesn't claim any crime. Things are different in Alaska. That's why we have 57 states (snark on BO!). If you want to live in a frozen hellhole and complain about its politics then move there! I'm not moving there either. Sheesh! Your teapot keeps whistling away...
I can't wait 'till she gets to Washington D.C.. I'm getting a lawn chair, popcorn, and an ice cold Snapple for that one.
It's the blatant hypocrisy that gets me. She fired the governor's chef (probably a hard working stiff) and thus claimed to live a spartan like existence.
Yes, $707 a night for a hotel sounds like alot, but is actually not that expensive for NYC. Plus, factor in the fact that a governor isn't going to check into some "cheap" hotel at $300 a night.
I don't get it. Why do conservatives, especially religious conservatives, line up like soldiers in defense of someone like Sarah Palin? If you've sifted through news reports since the convention (removing the chaff, as usual), you know that her convention address was highly truth-challenged. For instance, the notion that she crusaded againt earmarks is a bald faced lie. In fact, she actively pursued and secured huge federal earmark funds. I won't go into the rest. If people refuse to sift through the reports to figure out what's established and what isn't, I guess there's nothing I can do. The point is that she got up there and lied, and she has repeated these lies.
But that's just fine with the right-wing crowd.
I just don't get it.
Sounds like the leftist media are grabbing for straws and Obama looks like the proverbial deer in the headlights. What joy it is to watch the left crash and burn.
The leftist media, meaning Fox, Murdoch, Disney, Time Warner, etc?
You folks can't help yourselves, can you?
